I was going for the free verse style popular with Tang poets of the 7th though 10th centuries. This poem is similar to one by Zhang Jiuling named Thoughts 1 感遇其一Gǎn yùqí yī
The Uncertainty Principle of Destiny
The eagle soars high above a weak peninsula
eroded by time to a shadow of its former self
taken abroad as a captive for commercial productions
a traveling exotic show of content from all nations
slanted toward profits and trifling pecuniary things
it fled Goguryeo given the chance, like a rifle shot
and sought a tree it lived in far away, long ago
I feel a cold dread watching it and the sea
rogue waves so restless, unsettled and free
when Hong Xiuquan's political brother of fossil fueled battles
would seize it once again for a four-wheeled cell
globally warmed for gagged captives, waiting, too ready for hell.
