In reply to the question; If Alaska were split in to two states where should the linbe be drawn

Easy answer for that; if the state were split in two the Panhandle to Lituya Bay and Yakatat would be a new state and the rest of Alaska would be Alaska. The two regions are fairly separate as it is and environmentalists and reasonable people don’t want more, destructive shoreline roads to be built to connect them.

Some people regard the panhandle as too warm to be Alaskan, and at low altitude it is as warm as the Aleutians (that should remain with the large part of Alaska). Juneau or Petersburg could be the capital of the South Alaska and Fairbanks should be the capitol of Alaska- although the people of Anchorage might say it’s too cold there.

On evil, wickedness and society

Maybe negativism is easier to produce than positivism. People may advance criticisms without providing anything constructive. Evil in the Biblical paradigm is natural disaster while wickedness is the right term for humanity. Therefore evil might be the man caused natural disaster of over-consuming the world ecosystem bring natural disaster responses to the world from the famous global warming to pandemics (too promiscuous of demographic travel ending natural environmental firewalls).

If humanity is mired in the original sin of thermodynamic need to consume energy to exist and thoughtlessly consumes the environment without regard to sustainability, if social inertia and poor, unreflective leadership reinforces maladaptive economics, evils ensue. Even worse, political use-truth values will repress free speech that dissents from the wrong macro-social economic structure’s most wicked facticities.

The life expectancy of cancel-culture

Cancel culture is progressive historical revisionism and brave new world order use-truth packed into one neat deconstructionist, hyper-modernist package easy to sell in the corporate market place so it will run its course.

Creative destruction applies not just in economics, it works with culture too continuing to gnaw away at its own foundations. Sometimes popular cultural products/ideas last 20 years before anti-ideas appear to mock the previous popular one although the life-cycle may decrease with the w.w.w.

What vast public debt means today?

Several quality economists have said that the public debt is not too important anymore. That is a ponderous concept plainly. If money or debt is so elastic for the government then it might be a good idea to periodically lubricate the economic well being of the poor and down trodden yearning to be rich that live in this nation with a trillion or two now and then.

There is a marginal reserve rate that means a bank needs to have about 10% on deposit of the amount it loans out. Banks don’t need to loan out actual cash; in fact the amount of cash in circulation is very small percent of the dollars in circulation electronically. So if the Federal Reserve gives a zero or near zero interest loan of a few hundred billion dollars to the rich, the rich banks can mint 9 times that amount in real dollars electronically that are repaid with real dollars. In effect the Federal Reserve is continuously giving free money to the rich- north of 16 trillion dollars so far with quantitative easing and there is more than that that has been lent. Giving the poor a few crumbs of what goes to the rich is quite reasonable. Especially since the money goes to Americans who directly invest the money in the economy rather than sending it to some foreign nation (the rich are the ones sending direct investment in foreign nations like China).

It should be mentioned that the last dozen years of Republican presidential leadership experienced some of the greatest deficit spending in world history- they are not people with invariably good economic ideas for the public rather than for-themselves and in fact reinvented permanent Keynesian deficit spending for pump priming as a Lafferian supply-side way of life. Former VP Dick Cheney apparently believed that the private sector should plunder the public sector and Republicans have tended toward occasionally selling those $9000 gold-plated wrenches to the U.S. government. The poor seldom benefit from that high-level brand of piracy.

Economics shouldn’t require a degree in economics to well understand, yet it does. I have only read a few books on the topic and would like a better more simplified foundation for global sustainable economics that disambiguate topics like the meaning of public debt.

Physics advances since Einstein are remarkable

Sure; even Einstein’s cosmological constant that he set aside turned out to be apparently true with the expansion rate of the Universe. There may be not cosmological energy expanding things so much as space itself expanding, or some oddity related to the Higgs field that is itself a great discovery in physics.

One likes all of the discoveries in particle physics especially, and the insight that particles that are massless acquire energy when slowing down through the Higgs field as a third dimension is added to them.

Cosmology watchers have a wealth of discoveries since Einstein to consider, and the insights of relativity- general and special, are fundamental tools of philosophical thought as timeless as the spinning bucket thought experiment or the ideas of motion and volume of the pre-Socratic philosophers Parmenides and Heraclitus.

If time is an apparent phenomenon of the subluminal quanta of the Higgs, is the field itself atemporal, and how does that compare to an atemporal singularity at T=0? Ideas concerning quantum entanglement and ‘spooky action at a distance’, all possible worldlines and quantum jitters as analogues of infinite variable positions have been produced to provide new ways of regarding the field phenomena that is the Universe of appearance-for others.

On the question 'should inheritance be abolished'

Inherited wealth should be taxed, as should capital generally, when the amount reaches a level that is harmful to society. Capital grows faster than wages so wealth concentrates and inherited wealth concentrates without new effort by those with the inheritance.

That being said, inheritance is a good thing for the poor and middle classes that should have zero inheritance tax. Inherited intellectual capital and culture shouldn’t be easily dissipated as the inertia of intelligence, technology and capitol can be hard to achieve from the ground-up in a single generation. The imbalance in wealth distribution between the 1% and the 99% can be reduced by taxing the rich and not taxing the poor.

Concentrated wealth brings an effective end to democracy, free enterprise and ingenuity by the majority and control of the economy and politics to the tiniest minority. People need to disambiguate the relationships of democracy to wealth and power to consider if opinions of the majority can Trump the will to control the social order and kind of infrastructure and political economy a society has.

Piketty’s book ‘Capital in the 21st Century’ has an informative chapter on inherited wealth. Capital in the Twenty-First Century: Piketty, Thomas, Goldhammer, Arthur: 9780674979857: Amazon.com: Books

There is a related question concerning the contemporary practice of giving an inheritance to children before death that avoids the issue of inheritance and taxes. The rich have a zillion ways to avoid inheritance taxes.

Answering the 'what if' of Alaska independence

If the United States wanted to get rid of Alaska and Alaska was therefore forced to be an independent nation it would need to rely on the United States or some other nation to supply military defense for it. Alaska of course does have a lot of natural resources to sell, yet I am skeptical about its prospects for defending against Chinese, Russian or Canadian invasions relying just on the national guard.

Alaska would need to become a nuclear power and develop a fleet of nuclear armed Kamikaze drones submarines and aircraft to assure mutual destruction to its attackers. That would be costly and in violation of a few treaties that it hasn’t signed yet though other nations have.

Alaskans could stay alive until they died eating fish and buffalo or caribou. Man does not live by bread alone though, and Alaska would need some kind of immigration policy to attract more quality people economically speaking to live there and the harm to the environment would be substantial with the increased population that presently is fewer than 800,000 people.

People can live in very poor circumstances and so could Alaskans although they might fare pretty well for-themselves. When Alaska participates in a trade fair with an advanced nation like China, it has art, carvings of ivory, snowshoes, oil barrels and smoked fish etc. while China has super-computers, super-tankers, jet aircraft and so forth and a million manufactures. Exporting logs used to be a prime Alaska business and then they upgraded to manufacturing log homes to sell to the Japanese and others who like those for some reason.

In a peaceful environment Alaska could get on fine, while in a war environment it just would not have the trillions invested to defeat an enemy that is well founded. Tourists could arrive by the millions annually to spend cash looking at lem sheds and huts in remote rural locations and Hollywood could make brave movies there with harrowing adventures of people fighting and climbing on the last glaciers in North America.

Inflation of dollars vs bitcoin

If a high rate of inflation occurred with wages and prices skyrocketing it might be easier for people to pay off mortgages and student loans. For sure inflation would not be good to people on fixed incomes. Contracts written at a particular pre-inflation price could be paid off with inflated dollars. Since the Fed hates inflation as apparently do the rich, because perhaps, capital usually increases faster than wages except during periods of inflation (I believe), it’s unlikely to happen.

It is interesting to compare bitcoin inflation or value with that of a dollar. Inflated bitcoin value is regarded as good, while that of the dollar is bad.

Ecologically sustainable, relevant infrastructure and libertarianism

Governments have always been around to keep social order. In theory they can accomplish things that individuals and private collectives can’t afford or don’t have an interest in. Plato said that the commons is neglected by the polis and is the worst kept area in comparison to private interests. Private interests though have their own interests in mind and not those of the public. A libertarian society, if such could actually exist except in a frontier setting with corruption being the rule rather than the exception and a Frank Reed like character needed to free the town of its Soapy Smiths, would likely be a rathole.

In a libertarian society infrastructure would grow incidentally without regard to public interest. If the technological tool kit required for building infrastructure is simple and if the demands on society are simple the infrastructure may self-regulate. Consider a primitive society with people hunting seals on the ice with spears- they require no public spending because the society is simple and services are provided by nature. Compare that to England in the industrial revolution when people were getting cholera of drinking water from the Thames river- the remedy required public mediation to treat all that sewage effluence.

The nation today has people going off in a zillion directions chasing after tangential political ideas that will not allow the national or global economy to continue to exist very far down the road with more than 12 billion people on Earth by the end of the century. Excellent new ideas need to appear that can coordinate planetary redevelopment toward a new direction of ecological economic synthesis and libertarian won’t do that. Neither will communism or socialism- each have problems in repressing free enterprise where new structures need arise from invention.

Americans in the private sector are quite concerned with getting their special economic interest gored when new and massive government-directed changes take places that would allow an infrastructure of sustainable support for 12 billion people. Governments don’t have a surfeit of inventive people able to originate and explain great redevelopment ideas obviously. Jacques Cousteau and James Lovelock each expressed the idea that humanity has fewer than 200 years left before collapse and I tend to agree with that prospect. On basic political facts and forms they are confused and splintered chasing after things that won’t work very far into the future.

Public and private interests each can mismanage infrastructure and keep existing forms long beyond their historical time for utility. In the present global environment that is akin to packing gunpowder for storage in a warehouse on the waterfront as occurred in Lebanon last year.

Effects of US consumerism 1920s unto today

The United States was more of a producer rather than a consumer society in the 1920s. People continued to put up their own preserves with home grown food wherever possible. There were no fast food joints and few chain stores. Much of the nation wasn’t electrified, television didn’t exist and in brief the nation was very, very different than today.

The U.S.A. was still on the gold standard and the federal government did usually run deficits except during war. During the 1920s President Harding and Coolidge reduced public debt to about five billion dollars. History of the United States public debt - Wikipedia

Wall Street’s eventual crash was caused by ‘irrational exuberance’ and to great of expansion and investment. Churchill as the British Chancellor of the Exchequer persuaded the U.S. government to be tight with bailing out Wall Street and the lack of financial stimulus helped a run on banks The rise of Nazi problems would also cause increased military spending in the 1930s and further cycles of debt, conflict, military industrial complex spirals and tax increases. History tends to repeat itself in several ways at least in regard to fiscal, tax and public spending policies.

Consumerism in the 1920s was not at all like it is today. The United States was still a primary producer at home and in industry. Manufacturers could put into business the inventions of Thomas Edison and Alexander Graham Bell etc. Farming was increased with new machine technology and became more productive and less labor intensive. Road and dam building projects occurred in several states to use the increasing automobile production and electrification to put Americans to work. The nation then was not so reliant on foreign production and financial services for jobs. It still built infrastructure and was not afraid to upgrade in response to existential challenges.

Today the U.S.A. should take at least some small steps to return toward a production value. That could include reducing patent costs and streamlining them by orders of magnitude so U.S. inventors who are poor can do more than give their ideas away on the Internet to whomever wants to use them, creating tax incentives for those out of work longest to be hired and assuring that all Americans can afford higher education through graduate school to maximize their potential etc.

Defining the origin of the Universe

There are lots of theories existing at any given time (in time). Often they are disproven. Sometimes they convey an image of authority to the people that advocate the most popular theory.

A Higgs field and an inflaton that arises about simultaneously splitting off from an unstable field at T=0 from a singularity is a popular theory. It is thought to have existed carefully balanced in a vacuum balanced between positive and negative energy. After the expansion of all that energy in the Higgs field and a win for matter over anti-matter the sub-luminal mass of the Universe continued along with gravity, stellar synthesis and biological evolution. People tend to accept those general parameters as a valid theory of the origin of everything in this Universe back to a singularity.

Then there are meta-theories that have the initial energy before expansion as pure spirit- in the mind of God as it were, with the expansion pre-determined in accordance with His will. Some people have tossed blind random chance into a meta-theory to explain the existence of life, and have postulated a profusion of Universes existing in a Multiverse along the lines of Everett’s every possible universe that could exist does exist principal. That is a good approach for a defining theory that allows for the Universe to be in several forms with several explanations for its existence depending upon where one starts or orients the beginning.

If mass and energy are at the most fundamental level secondary phenomena of mathematical or spiritual construction made by a thinking being, or alternatively is a Super-string theory supports the profusion of Universes, or if the Universes are something like a static field with mind switching between the appropriate Universe that corresponds to what the sentient, primary being thinks (a phenomenon of mind) in a deterministic field with free will determining the destination of the traveler through the moral or soteriological facts, or if one appeals to quantum simulation theory with the idea of origin coinciding with some sort of Schrodinger wave function collapse into self-awareness the definition of the origin of the Universe might appear equally valid to the sentient observer even tested with some measure of falsifiability.

Therefor a definition of the origin of the Universe these days tends to be a process. The genesis of being and nothingness has an in God we trust element to it for those of us that regard an omniscient being and Creator of every possible Universe at some stage of the way, and a logical point to purpose and utility- again a process.

Language itself is a process of associating words and objects, meanings and ideas with definitions and objects each changing in the temporal field of common human experience. God, alternatively, is constant forever and before any temporal field that he manifests.

On clever, creative people in government

I would like clever creative people to be in government sometimes instead of just the private sector that tends to pay much better. My thoughts on defense against biological war potential differ quite a bit from those of the government apparently, judging from the lack of interest expressed in defending against the possibility. One would need to have politicians that actually would change things to invest much time in making suggestions for change.

Actually I write quite a bit and it is mostly wasted as far as applications go in specific area. One may give away ideas yet they will be transformed into sludge. I would not have applied the term incompetent to President Trump myself as a general criticism. He was mostly irrelevant outside his interests- that is he was satisfied in getting his own interests done and unresponsive to other challenges. It is not my idea that Democrats are very competent in meeting modern challenges to the U.S.A.- quite the contrary. I know expect nothing substantive from them yet would like to be disappointed. Republicans alternatively are just interested in business profits and mostly are exteriorities to the challenges facing the nation, people and environment over the next decade.

Biological war prospects have advanced quite a bit since 2003 when there was a publication by a Colonel reviewing revolutions in military affairs (R.M.A.) He mentioned the number of fully sequenced virus genos then (about 500). I checked on that number this morning and it is more than 10,000. There is a pandoras box of genetic recombinant engineering and subtle modifications for the tool kit of bioweapons that is not in any way addressed competently. Protecting the public as an excuse for not letting the public be aware of the R.M.A. that has made biowar and culling of the population of the nation and/or the planet a real possibility is lame.

Human life on the planet needs new ecospherically conservative and restorative infrastructure that would allow humanity to cut its vector from ancient economic infrastructure with sustainability for the maximum population at the highest standard of living. A healthy and thriving ecosphere is part of the quality of life that makes living enjoyable. Infrastructure firewalls defrapping bioweapons mass culls would need to be part of that new ecological economic infrastructure.

There is a clever mini-electric train that shows the simplicity of modern science and technology that can serve as a for-example to be upscaled and applied with innovation that could help in making mass transit and personal transit a better synthesis in a rewilded ecosystem that requires just a little imagination.

Senator Romney's anti-stimulus ideology isn't balanced

Mitt Romney isn’t a bad guy, he is just rich and a little out of touch with the life experience of ordinary people and the poor- that sort of thing. During his Presidential campaign he said that half the people of the U.S.A. don’t want to work. Social disadvantage has an inertia that is hard to break sometimes. Society tends to be picky as well- people that are a little older or uncool may be unwelcome in the workplace. Once one gets out of the social average mainstream of the workplace there is a kind of antibody response that can react adversely to those seeking re-entry into the workplace.   Stimulus unemployment benefits should approximate those of individual employment pre-Covid though.

https://twitter.com/jbouie/status/1364557875323015168?s=20

If employers had incentives to hire those out of work longest that might alleviate chronic unemployment. If free education continued through graduate school some people could develop meaningful careers instead of competing with illegal aliens for minimum wage jobs. If all Americans had some secure place to keep their stuff they would not need to repurchase basic items every time they are homeless and recover a little.

The income of C.E.O.s and top executives is vastly greater than it was in the mid-1970s while the average wage of working men as stagnated adjusted for inflation and hasn’t changed in nearly a half century. Capital increases faster than wages over history. Wealth concentrates and Senator Romney is a member of that capital-grows-faster-than-wages class making a farce of wages.

Even during the Covid 19 pandemic the capital and wealth of Wall Street has increased. Giving some Americans a little spending capital is nothing comparable to the wealth the Federal Reserve is giving the rich with continued near-zero interest loans (with one dollar on deposit a bank and loan out nine times more e-dollars (free money).

In actual fact a decent job without victimization in the workplace is far less work than being unemployed…one does not have a fantasy life where work is not necessary-except maybe for the rich who can live off their savings and capital. Real poverty creates real hardship and adversity physically and socially.

Could a different administration reaction to Covid have avoided lockdowns etc

Trump’s swift response to halt flights incoming from China wasn’t followed up well by actions and leadership that would have defrapped the spread of the virus most effectively. The President lacked motivation, as do many others apparently, to combat biological war at a low level effectively. As a former NBC army trainee I believe the administration should have got hot suppressing the virus- that could be good practice for an actual biological war with an advanced genetically engineered vector.

Could the administration have acted so effectively that Covid 19 restrictions wouldn’t have been needed for so much time, or could any other U.S. politicians have taken charge and eliminated the virus in a few months- probably not. Politicians are promoted to their level of incompetence and aren’t selected for having state of the art intelligence concerning non-traditional economic, technical, environmental or scientific innovation.

While many citizens were concerned with protecting their fellow citizens against Covid 19 there were many others that did not and were as useless as dopey cattle at taking simple measures like wearing a mask. Personally I was disgusted with people going maskless when I enjoyed wearing full M.O.P.P gear at chemical war defense school and could put that on in a couple of minutes. President Trump was a farce of an example at mask prophylaxis. He probably did not want to be reelected…many of his voters from 2016 were aging boomers whom he seemed not to give a whit about.

America’s tardy and uninventive response to Covid 19 besides the manufacturers of the vaccines confirmed my suspicion that a lot of not too bright people live in this nation that are clueless about the meaning of life in general on this somewhat fragile planet and would not do anything to reconfigure economic structures or society that would inconvenience themselves as they use their infernal machines to get things done the easy way, repeat, expand, repeat… Biological war is possibly the most efficient way to kill healthy soldiers and others targeted by special weapons. The brain-dead dragging their feet at Covid 19 defense could themselves be the victims of a future incident that might be just as far away as some secret PhD’s basement laboratory. Biological war is not an obsolete fact- it is a future possibility that national defense needs to develop swift reactions to that would also allow the economy to continue to function- that criterion demands the capacity for walking and chewing gum simultaneously.

The people that manufactured masks at home contributed far more than the scoffers did for the nation to survive the virus. Those people seemed to believe that herd immunity was the way to go and let a million or two die would have suited them just fine. There are many people that increase knowledge with age and some middle aged people that are never more than vehicle driving, beer-drinking consumer-producers with a paycheck never thinking about global or national issues before they drop dead on their sofas. With national and planetary demographics being what they are that attitude will serve the principle of human survival better than lemmings racing toward oblivion. People really need to think and develop good political economy that maximizes human potential for everyone on Earth, as well as the ecosphere.

Passenger Service Vessel Act and Alaskan Cruises

I probably would be opposed to loosening the PSVA or the Jones Act because of the potential damage to Americans seeking to operate vessels in a very competitive international shipping environment. One could open a Pandora’s box of international firms operating around the nation including Alaska that might endanger national security and otherwise could serve to make being an American even more irrelevant in the corporate, globalist economy.

In a year or so the Covid 19 vaccines probably will let the cruise industry return to normal. Before Covid Juneau had maybe 30,000 visitors a day and even small towns like Wrangell were anticipating a rise in the number of cruise ships tying up. That all crashed in 2020 and 2021.

Rather than end existing legislation it would be better to stimulate land transport to Alaska through Canada on hyper-tubes for cargo. People have discussed extended a rail road to Alaska for more than a half century and that should be upgraded to hyper-tube technology.

Alaska hasn’t got a tradition of bright and innovative politicians except for jay Hammond and Steve Cowper in the office of governor in my opinion. The present fine governor seems not to understand the marine Highway System very well- not that his predecessors did either, and has let it atrophy during the budget crisis. Some private enterprise has stepped in to provide passenger service locally and that should be supported with contracts of some type and perhaps bids to provide private rather than state-owned ferry service in S.E. Alaska at least.

Alaska should try to be more modern an work to upgrade an infrastructure and housing that are ecologically sustainable and practical such as giving tax breaks to earth homes that stay warm when it is -30 F outside and developing fuel cell power plants in remote sites.

The state of Alaska had dumped Prudhoe Bay oil money for decades and that brought a brand of politicians to Juneau that didn’t need to do much besides apportion pork; critical thinking and fundamental policies that governments have used such as a state income tax have never needed to be on the agenda of political leadership. I believe they still cannot reconcile themselves to the end of easy oil royalties as the basis for state government. Clever free enterprise and invention can go a long way to make an economy function well.

Aren't the 1% ad hoc suzerains

An empire usually has foreign colonies historically speaking and the United States has none. Except for a brief 20 year period when the United States had the Philippines as a colony as a result of the Spanish-American war, before it gave that nation independence. The U.S.A. never did have colonies nor an emperor or imperial government. The original 13 colonies were of course part of the British Empire before the revolution. Today the U.S.A. has a few territories populated by citizens of the U.S.A. in addition to 50 states that became part of the union voluntarily at some point. Puerto Rico is an example; they could petition Congress to become a state yet appear satisfied to be a territory.

There is a plain difference concerning empires and nations historically easy to discern. Britain and Rome had empires as did the Soviet Union in some respects with Warsaw Pact nations taken during the war against the Nazis, yet that definition is debatable. The trouble with morphing historical terms is that they become meaningless in respect to their original sense and one may conflate completely different forms within one form mistakenly. It is as if contemporary history analyst recognize only several ancient forms of government and try to fit new forms into old categories lacking the will to create a new definition for themselves.

Some people like to call the United States an empire because it has a lot of wealth and foreign troops stationed abroad to bring or keep the peace, and one might regard the 1% as an aristocracy, yet technically the United States isn’t an empire so much as a corporatist entity with plutocratic suzerainty that evolved from a national democracy. In this paradigm I would say the 1% act toward the 99% in their own country as suzerains.

2/22/21

Environment and Recession

The world environment is in long-term decline from over-use and abuse. If an economy was ecologically sustainable and well designed to let people work without harming the ecosphere recession would not be a factor in regard to the environment. With the present economic structure that plunders the ecosphere, displaces and edges it toward extirpation the ecosphere declines during recession and expansion.

During recession or depression poverty may move people toward exploiting anything of value from Saguaro cactus to desert turtles and bear livers to earn something. Enforcement of endangered species laws may stop as funding decreases. etc.

During the Covid 19 recession the San Francisco peninsula did not bounce back with an old growth Redwood or Sequoia forest appearing to bump out the buildings and asphalt.

Tracking Amazon Deforestation from Above

How would an agrarian nation do today

One has a few variable parameters such as ‘country’, ‘agrarian’ and ‘survive’ that would allow a hypothetical construction of numerous models including futuristic ones with hyper-modern agriculture- perhaps indoors. One might have an altered demographic or political constituency that would influence the standard of living.

If a modern nation was exceptionally productive it might dominate global food sales and create a surfeit of very cheap commodities for human consumption that would keep its people alive- surviving and thriving. It is difficult to say. Traditional agrarian cultures certainly have a hard time of things these days though for it implies a lack of advance, education and the ability to afford defense weapons that are quite costly.

Concerning the Return of Normalcy

Millions of Americans not wearing somewhat ineffective masks and Covid 19 reduced to near non-existence would be elements of normality. I suppose there are already millions of Americans not wearing masks who have ignored the admonition to mask up and that too is normal.

One of the Kardashians has filed for divorce from the singer Kanye West and the nation may never return to normal after that. I saw a headline about it and maybe will discover who those people are some day and learn why they are so important. It can never be reasonable said that divorce is normal.

Mr. West apparently said something to the effect that after 400 years of slavery that condition had become normal or not-resisted well enough and that was a non-liberal sounding sort of thing to say unacceptable to Californians or others waiting for 100 million dollars in the Covid 19 relief bill to pay for something concerning the Bay Area Rapid Transit system also known as Black Bart. In my opinion any sort of mass transit system that runs of electricity is probably worth investing in especially if it has Covid 19 detectors and auto sampling needles that extract blood from each passengers entering a ‘train’ for rapid D.N.A. sequencing to determine if they have enough Neanderthal genes to be considered Republicans.

If the Los Angeles Lakers do not win another N.B.A. title the nation will have small chance of being considered normal. The Lakers need win dathe next three years for even a semblance of normality to emerge from the chthonic pathos of the Covid 19 era.

I think Democrats tend to feel normality is godless atheism running to transformation of Star Fleet headquarters in S..F. to evolve a Judy Garland world that might freely be renamed Fruity Rapid Interplanetary transit to paradise on the planet Bezos formerly known as Mars with all of the wealth in 1% of the people who are politicians and CEOS and lawyers with liberty and justice for-themselves.

In a renormalized U.S.A. the rich will keep getting richer in spite of the pandemic being over and Americans will climb over themselves to blow smoke up the bare backsides of the rich agitating for low tax rates and labeling any suggestion to the contrary as socialism. Socialists will believe they aren’t merging with corporatism and Obamacare will be believed in error once again to be a practical system that covers the poorest citizens comprehensively even if they need be homeless and move seasonally to moderate temperatures.

A bill or executive action will be made that will restore to ecospheric health one acre of prime Florida swamp land and guarantee a cleaner atmosphere without so much CO2 in the year 2739. Illegal aliens will be made citizens in order to get the fair $15 minimum wage and older poor Americans won’t be able to find any sort of work to supplement their retirement check that won’t pay for housing.

The U.S. can focus again upon Russian encroachment on historically Russian lands as a threat to Europe and reason why their need be a new, queer military division to combat global warming with automatic, shoulder fired nuclear neutron bullets. The public debt will increase temporarily for a trillion or two a year until 2028 by which time the federal budget will be balanced and the 1% have converted their U.S. dollars to bitcoin- and all of that will happen by the end of 2021 or 2 at the same time as student loan debt is written off and college education becomes free.

Why the Hong Kong Human Rights Act

The Chinese government apparently has violated agreements made with Britain concerning the transition of Hong Kong from British to Chinese rule. Those violations concern the end of freedom for the people of Hong Kong insofar as freedom is found within self-government of Democratic forms of government rather than authoritarian rule and Chinese authorities are ending several basic planks of democracy in Hong Kong.

Hong Kong | Human Rights Watch

https://www.congress.gov/bill/116th-congress/house-bill/3289

Arresting pro-democracy demonstrators and holding them indefinitely as well as exporting them to distant Chinese jurisdictions for adjudication are a couple of items people regard as human rights violations. That is, government with the consent of the government and trial by a jury of peers, habeas corpus etc. are necessary for a free people to feel free with the best government so many people can use to remain as free as possible.

The Chinese government has a tradition of crushing human rights these days in order to further communist rule that is of course also liberalizing business to a certain extent. The west is partly at fault for building up the Chinese economy with technology transfers and financial investment that swells Chinese military spending and the aggressiveness of Chinese politicians seeking to expand their power peripherally so far as they can. Hong Kong is something of an innocent bystander being run over by growing Chinese economic power and neo-authoritarianism that isn’t looking far enough beyond purely materially and atheistic ideologies to find a greater spiritual foundation of freedom for its people that might be a good influence on decaying western moral norms as well as its own.

Sometimes a government must intervene in a free market

Governments sometimes need to intervene in free markets in order to keep them free from the collusion of super-rich playground bullies and basic hogs of domination that would tilt the field toward themselves. Hogs don’t care about social progress nearly as much as personal power and total control of money (the root of all {or much} evil). Networks of colluding rich people may form planetary plutocracies that are as unchanging and repressive as that of pyramid building cultures of the Old kingdom of ancient Egypt. Anti-monopoly defenses need to be upgraded continuously or all of a nation’s wealth becomes concentrated in 1% of the people. The marketplace of ideas perishes as an establishment of evil wealth makes sure that politics is controlled and massaged to reinforce the domination of the establishment.

Ideas are repressed and political opposition is labeled ‘extremist’. Currencies become encrypted in electronic data bits and bytes interpretable just by the richest traders swimming about like dark-web sharks in dark pools that have never seen the light of day.

Corrupt private interests with vast wealth may corrupt public interests and ossify social structures and influence economic evolution globally to reinforce their concentration of wealth and power rather than the public good. Millions of insider lackeys may work as sycophantic ideologues to help repress intelligent thought in return for biscuits of prosperity. Environmental decay may develop and the migration of billions of cheap labor workers may ensue to help undermine national political resistance to global plutocratic power or increases of minimum wages.

Free markets may benefit from rules changes that reflect the real economic failures of the day such as the degrading world ecosphere exploited by inherited business relationships that consider environmental harm as an externality to the pursuit of private capital increase. Capitalism may need modernizing upgrades to keep it competitive rather than concentrated. Limits on the size of corporate employment or number of corporations any individual can invest in might be developed to promote competition rather than inertia temporal control.

Economic infrastructure may be mal-adapted to the environmental and demographic challenges of a given era. Governments with intelligent leadership (yes perhaps improbable) can set parameters within which free enterprise can compete, and remain out of the business themselves. Governments can intervene to bail out the rich with quantitative easing and dump them the capacity to loan out an in effect mint their own e-dollars strictly in conformity to the marginal reserve rate of 10% and thus get 16 trillion times 9 dollars free without work and thus buy a free market. Since 2008 the U.S. government has helped via the Federal Reserve to let the rich own the free market- and that is an example of the wrong way to manage things. Governments can also do things the right way an set parameters that would encourage environmental sustainability in harmony with a low entropy economic model that supports all citizens to have the most opportunity for intellectual productivity they can attain without financial limits subverting their course of higher education. A surfeit of well-educated people is better than a paucity.

Plutocrats and Cryptocurrency working against Democracy?

The U.S.A. might consider installing democracy in the United States before going off half-cocked considering foreign subversion. In a sense the American experiment in democracy has ended with corporatism and people like Elon Musk, Bill Gates, Warren Buffet, Jeff Bezos and other plutocrats being the victors.

People can still believe the U.S.A. is a democracy with social media and broadcast networks owned by the rich that brainwash the public about whatever they want declaring undesirable content that opposes their wealth and new world order ‘extremist’. When blockchain cryptocurrency will replace the dollar so rich people can have encrypted financial trades electronically in dark pools globally hidden from local governments and their tax bases and the rich live on Mars or some other above it all places some folks might still be attacking Russian efforts to develop capitalism themselves or Chinese efforts to join global plutocrats half-way in capitalism.

With the recent Covid 19 death total reaching nearly a half-million in the United States the Biden administration is seeking to replace those older, expensive dead people with cheaper live Mexican workers on a pathway to citizenship. The U.S. capitol with its tall barbed wire fence is better defended from U.S. citizens than the U.S./Meschica border is from illegal non-citizens. Democracy at work; Nahuatal will become the primary language taught in schools.

What people want for evidence of God

People are sometimes confused about reality and language in regard to naming points of cosmology, metaphysics, theology and so forth; they have expectations about God and how He should be and expect categories of ‘evidence (things evident) to appear to them. Generally they have no training in formal logic nor in epistemology and would like a McGod’s to be on the corner with golden arches to offer bite-sized and tasty evidence to them for a reasonable price. With such great expectations they are disappointed to find that franchise missing.

It is as if a waiter is absent from the table in a French cafe’ described by Jean Paul Sartre in Being and Nothingness. Some even believe the waiter needs to be God serving them up information, or that the waiter should have proof that he is God-like if he is Christian having developed a Christ-like character through faith.

There are some troubles with the paradigm of faith and pre-destination that make it difficult for those without any evident relationship in or faith concerning God to see any evident artifact of God as if he left dinosaur fossils about the landscape if they just dig a little deeper. One cannot see the origin of the Higgs field so one has no certainty regarding its extent or if it was created or not by God even indirectly. It is as if every bit of the cosmos that exists even theoretically has just a middle and no beginning or end that is evident…nothing more than faith that it isn’t just a hologram or a deception by a wise-guy super-physicist playing with the sentient beings inhabiting a Universe he whipped up.

A thickening plot like a thickening of massless particles encountering the Higgs field to slow down and become mass so a contingent field of mass locked in a steady condition of particles can exist phenomenally brings us to the problem of finding evidence for and evidence against a creator of the entire uncertain phenomenal field and one-dimensional points that maybe were an uneven or fluctuating dimension of a vacuum between -1 and +1 with absolute zero energy lacking energy to stay balanced.

It is as if the plot of infinite series of quantum points fluctuating between all possible locations in an infinite number of theoretical dimensions was just a figment of the imagination of a lizard sunning itself on a rock rather than God who could set values to agitation and quantum jitters thinking about it. Some people just demand answers they cannot get reading the Bible and natural history and considering how an eternal God might have described some of his work to rather primitive people that believe they are terribly smart at any given time since they climbed down from the trees, or at least their ancestors did.

A plot with evidence for vs evidence against requires a start- an argument maybe stimulated by Darwin’s Origin of Species set with proximal causes and pieces of proofs concerning model universe and the philosophy of logic showing that the beginning and end of time are just arbitrary places to start in the temporal middle of nowhere theoretically speaking, with the relativity of space-time in the combined Higgs field phenomenality of sub-luminal quarks and forces of gravity and massless particles set above and apart from mass being apparent primary- secondary effects of an unknown primary sponsor or agent of the Higgs sub-light show.

If the Bible is a process of understanding and correlating knowledge, those without evidence lack the content wherein with faith they might discover evidence or at least understanding meaning in a deeper sense. It does save time though to make summary though error prone judgments about things. It may be that those that were pre-determined to salvation encounter evidence and those that weren’t, don’t. It might be necessary to think on such things for a while to develop an informed opinion, yet McDonald’s calls.

Thickened Higgs field interactive content, stellar synthesis, melted and cooled magma- some expect to find evidence of God in such structures like clever little message written with advanced theoretical physics tools on the spin-states of sub-atomic particles, or maybe on clay tablets from an alien civilization that encounter God with faster-than-light starships that made it through to an alternate universe. I think that if one considers the Bible deeply one can not only form a good opinion on eschatology so they know the difference between pre-millennialism, post-millennialism and amillennialism, they can form better ideas about the creation in the scriptural paradigm in regard to all times and periods of human knowledge so people of each era might understand it, and that God created the Universe. Whatever mankind finds that is true about cosmology, it is not in contradiction with the information imparted in Genesis. Natural history is not in conflict with scripture, it confirms it paradigmatically. God has not set any sort of deceits between the natural history of the Universe and the content of Genesis. The problem is in human understanding of either.

One can get beyond Pascal’s wager or James’ pragmatic reasons for belief and know that anything that exists does have at least half a chance of being created by someone.

I wrote an ebook that is free to download that has some of my efforts to clarify the topic. It was put together some years ago, before the Higgs field knowledge became familiar, and there are always new things to learn about Biblical, archaeological and natural history that should go into another edition.

God, Cosmology and Nothingness-( Lulu)

The cabin was silent (poem)

The cabin was silent
like the world below sparse trees
striving for growth
something future

  Day escaped from shadows
captured night like a fugitive from never
being anything more than illusion
ocean sloshed prime reality

  Olding human being
looking about at chains of mortality
so everything changes the neighborhood
with noise of creative destruction

  Flesh multiplying itself in forms
mathematically structured processes
flowing complex answers
without question

Ever disappears into possibility
objectivity may then regard circumstance
chords of being
silenting away.

Karl Marx; philosopher or sociologist?

Marx studied philosophy- especially Hegelianism like so many others in his era (as well as law) before setting out on his life’s work. Primarily Marx contributed to sociological analysis at which he was quite good, and not so much so at metaphysics or designing an ideal economic system.

German idealism of the 19th century had influences from Hegel and romantics that discounted ordinary social structures and instead felt themselves a little above the worldview and rote, somnolent lives of the masses of society. Nietzsche was one of those, yet so were so many others, and they were influenced by Darwinism, prominent atheists (i.e. Feurbach) and anarchists (i.e. Kropotkin). Marx was a Jewish intellectual and Jews of 19th century Europe had been victimized by pogroms and so forth going all the way back to the destruction of the temple in Jerusalem in 70 a.d. when a million were killed and the remainder scattered in exile (diaspora), hence Jews sough a Jewish homeland- so even in Europe, and were revolutionary catalysts in Germany, Russia and elsewhere. Some of the Jewish intellectuals of the day were atheists- like Marx, who had no regard for the Christian religion of the nations in which they had sometimes been unwelcome. Marx had many influences that drove him toward adapting atheism, Hegelianist dialectics and Zionism into a fusion that definitely met the criterion of social philosophy. Marx formalized the first modern state theory of communist economics.

Adam Smith had published the Wealth of Nations (Capitalism) about 1775 so Marx’s Das Kapital was something of an ungrade to that economic tour de force as well as a revision. Marx’s great sociological ability was found in his analysis of the British economic and social structure of the time that described the plight and problems of the poor pushed off rural farm jobs and into cities where they were exploited and labored long hours in factories. He was correct in finding some of the downsides to capitalism that were far less than ideal from the viewpoint of workers not profiting from the system. Generally he was pretty far off at inventing a practical economic alternative to capitalism- it was early in the development of sociology and economics and Marx had to rely on his own ideas in those fields for modern and futurist synthesis and that wasn’t sufficient to create a practical theory of ideal economics for his era or any other.

Karl Marx discounted Hegel’s spiritual dialectic and transformed it entirely in to materialistic economic evolution with clash and counter-clash or thesis-antithesis (as he wrote). As an atheist metaphysics with spirit were rubbish to Karl Marx, so he killed the Hegelian spirit and like Frankenstein made a monster from the corpse that walked the Earth during the 20th century primarily.

Free enterprise is the kernel that brings life to economic progress- not top-down bureaucratic management. Corporatism can oppress free enterprise as readily as communism and other forms of totalitarianism. Writing with the Socratic irony that Kierkeguaard found to be an implicit aspect of society in that it does move along unthinking philosophically about what or why social structures are the way they are, a modern economic philosopher might have a reason to experiment with myriad political economic models packaged in a variety of ways in order to fuse progress into the current ecologically devastating state of the world economy that over-concentrates wealth, leaves a large percent of poverty at the base and does not support the maximum intellectual development of all of mankind to the real limit of their abilities.

Maybe the bottom 25% of society could have socialism and the upper 75% capitalism; with the rich obligated to provide free education through graduate school, enough money for free health care, dental and living they would be motivated to employ and promote the poor out of poverty to reduce their tax payments. Perhaps capitalism should have limited corporate size in order to promote competition and business should have tax incentives for being less entropy causing to promote ecological sustainability. There should be an infinite number of economic packages in limitless forms to model that would be improvements on the present system.

Writers like Nietzsche...

I didn’t encounter anyone that wrote much like Nietzsche in reading western philosophy of the 20th century. He wasn’t a popular professor at college with the janitor being about his only regular student attending his class.

In my opinion mainstream philosophy went into linguistic and analytic philosophy from Russell and Wittgenstein to Quine, Strawson, and other logicians that could apply rigorous logical parameters and the development of the philosophy of logic to fields like ethics, computer science and etc.

People like Sartre, Husserl and systematic rationalists tended to fade a bit in popularity in comparison to specialists with a variety of logical tools and scientific, cosmological and quantum knowledge that allowed reformation of metaphysics and ontology to a certain extent.

Sartre called his Existentialism a continuation of French rationalism. I guess it might be reasonable to say that the existential viewpoint is that of first-person analytical ontology. Developing that sort of thing is quite difficult today. His Critique of Dialectical Reason is a very good tool for thinking about how individuals and organized individuals interact phenomenally and then modeling particular elements of those with philosophy of logic tools. Dewey and Derrida, deconstructionism and post-modernism that reduced language and epistemology to a level of subjectivity that caused some to virtually conflate meaning with meaninglessness objectively as if truth and falsehood were entirely relative and subjective (and not just as nominal variables) might be a kind of dilute version of the grand weltanshauungs of people like Hegel.

Nietzsche on the other hand was a 19th century writer who worked hard yet was limited to what Kant might have called a posteriori social-circumstantial analysis. He was probably influenced by Darwin and Zorastrianism. The philosopher of the eternal recurrence paradigm might have been stimulated by syphilis yet is admired by ‘we have all been here before’ rock and rollers. A band called ‘Spandau Ballet’ wrote a popular song about the eternal recurrence. Spandau prison was where the last famous Nazi (Rudolph Hess) spent the remainder of his life. His work was liked by the Nazis because of the anti-Semitism in some of his aphorisms and of course the development of the Superman. With regard to the latter maybe comic books and graphic novels continued Nietzsche’s idea of super-men and super-beings best.

Republicans are two parties in one these days

The Republican party seems to independents to have two parties for-themselves...one, the Mitch McConnell branch, is that of corporate bimbos agreeable to concentrating wealth, and the other are workers opposed to the immorality of Democrats, illegal alien job and wage displacement and taxes on themselves as working people. The two parties can sometimes form a majority at least of semi-conservative states in presidential elections.

One cannot easily examine the make-up of the Republican party without considering their Democrat opponents and methods. One need also regard corporate social media policy inclusive of their right to censor independent writers. What is it that Democrats want?

Democrats to worker Republicans seem to be an anti-white male party that is pro-affirmative action for their members and Orwellian to the point of eliminating language like 'alien' from laws to force discussion within boundaries that deletes opposition language. Democrat moderators at social media can find hate speech and bigotry in virtually any opposition expressions and downgrade or delete it and ban the writer once identified as non-Democrat.

Democrats are in a period of canceling white male culture to promote a brave new world through government compulsion and the ballot box; they would rather have white males live on food stamps and make citizens of illegal aliens to replace them because the aliens are likely Democrat voters in support of non-white political power. Democrats have their own corporate bimbo branch that would expand homosexuality globally as if it were a social equivalent of Covid 19 virus. That is regarded as an ally for the promotion of women's economic power. It is a confused conflation of issues in conflict and ignorance of history regressive inasmuch as it deflects rational and equitable political development that would be satisfactory to Americans generally instead of onerous evils foisted by 'crats of craziness unto coalitions of the unwilling.

Republican workers have legitimate political grievances with Democrats; they are marginalized by social media and called bigots for defending their own class interests. If there were no Negroes in the United States Republican workers voting for Trump would still have voted for Trump- that is, there were numerous other divisive political issues-opposing racial equality was not on the agenda for the vast majority of them. Corporate is preponderantly in support of the Democrat platform of downgrading the U.S.A. to the status of an international neutral runway for globalists, therefor Republican workers are generally betrayed by their leadership with the recent exception of the environmentally anachronistic Donald Trump.

Republicans will tend to seem like an obsolete party to youth because of it lacks any ecospheric health creds and thus is regarded as dumb and dirty. The corporate bimbo branch doesn't actually need the office of President so Republicans seldom run quality candidates and certainly none with environmental economic education with a program of nationalism and a strong safety net for the bottom 25% of society. With good poverty elimination and environmental restoration policies Republicans could rise to a new majority status and defrappe some of the godless agenda of globalist Democrats.

It would be silly to expect anything of real benefit from either major U.S. party though. Democrats need Mexicans to be eligible for a draft to serve in future wars, to tend their lawns, build their sheds and puff smoke up their asses generally. That policy development could allow Mexico and even China to dominate U.S. politics while corporatists are amused from future gated communities in Tibet and Mars while ordinary Americans- the 99% - are left holding the bag of vast public debt owed to globalists, Martians and the unessential 1%. Blockchain currencies that are encrypted and hidden offshore and off-whirld will enable the rich to avoid paying taxes to any of those obnoxious national governments.

The KKK act lawsuit against Trump et al

They can sue yet I think their chances of winning aren’t very good. The plaintiffs would need to prove the defendants colluded or acted together for some reason to cause intentional harm to some group in a proximal way, and I think that finding they sought to harm the N.A.A.C.P. or some other racial group is unrealistic and improbable.

NAACP sues Trump, GOP over alleged disenfranchisement of Black voters

Democratic Rep. Bennie Thompson sues Donald Trump, accusing him of inciting riot at US Capitol, conspiring with extremists

Democrats seeking to marginalize Republicans by associating them with racism primarily miss the point on the numerous other political issues that brought American populism to support Trump as the rest of the Republican party seemed to be global corporatist ‘deep state’ people. Democrats have drifted a long way from the Occupy Wall Street movement of correction toward the k-ass Wal-Street side of things. Not all people that vote Republican are rich.

Someone wrote a diatribe enumerating all of the things Democrats hate loosely in response to a question I asked. I won’t try that here, yet I encourage Democrats to think and use sober logic in regard to the fate and security of the nation, its people and borders. Even political philosophy and political economy could change. What about socialism for the bottom 25% of Americans and capitalism for the 75% above? Maybe the two could coexist instead of being portrayed as mutually exclusive. If the poor had a national safety net with guaranteed minimum income, health and dental care and education through graduate school no-one would be excluded from a productive life and the well-off would be motivated to find a way to employ the poor instead of deploring them, so the rich would not need to pay taxes to support them.

Reading this historical sketch of the KKK act of 1871 it seems the purpose was to stop intimidation of the 4 million southern blacks that were freed former slaves. Grant gave some southern states the right to suspend habeas corpus and other measures to reign in the Klan terror. That situation doesn’t seem especially relevant for the capitol riot at all. Maybe it could be used equally superfluously to contain Black Lives Matter rioters or Antifa intifadah. Suspending habeas corpus is a pretty extreme measure in a free society today.

It is an interesting juxtaposition of issues; if there wasn’t a real insurrection- that is one that meets a U.S. legal description, and Democrats brought a bogus charge and technically met the criterion of breaking vestigial elements of 42 U.S. Code § 1985 - Conspiracy to interfere with civil rights was it o.k. to do that using a legal tool with a false premise in order to actualize a pre-existing condition of conspiracy to take down Trump by any means.

The Ku Klux Klan Act of 1871 | US House of Representatives: History, Art & Archives

Even more curious is that the martial law and suspension of habeas corpus measures might have been the cause for SCOTUS declaring the act unconstitutional in 1872.
