STEP 3: STEP-BY-STEP ASSEMBLY PROTOCOL

1. PREP THE BASE CAP:
Cut the entire top fabric dome completely out of the baseball cap. Leave
only the front visor bill and the circular adjustable headband intact.
2. INSTALL THE CROSS-DOME BANDS:
Take DOME BAND A (16"). Lay the bottom 2 inches flat against the INSIDE
FRONT of the cap's headband. Securely tape it down with duct tape. Anchor
the other end to the INSIDE BACK of the headband. It should form a high arc.
Take DOME BAND B (16"). Tape it to the INSIDE LEFT and INSIDE RIGHT of the
headband, crossing it directly over the first arc to create a 3D dome.
3. LOCK THE APEX:
Wrap a piece of duct tape tightly around the top point where the two dome
bands cross. Because the plastic is flat, the tape will hold it perfectly
rigid against high winds.
4. MOUNT THE LOWER BRIM HOOP:
Drop your pre-made 46-inch plastic ring over the top of the dome. Position
it horizontally so it rests about midway up the dome (roughly 3 inches
above the cap's headband). Tape the ring securely to all 4 vertical straps.
5. SKIN THE RADIANT ROOF:
Tear a sheet of heavy-duty aluminum foil. Lay it over the top plastic dome,
stretching it tightly down to the horizontal brim hoop. Wrap the foil edges
under the plastic hoop and tape it completely flat.
*CRUCIAL:* Keep the shiny side facing OUT. Do NOT pull the foil down to the
headband. The 3-inch gap between the brim hoop and the cap must stay open.
6. WINDPROOF THE FOIL:
Run 2 or 3 long strips of clear tape or duct tape across the top surface of
the foil roof. This keeps the foil from tearing or rattling loudly in sudden
Houston wind gusts.
