In Reply to 'What is the Purpose of Religion?' etc.

For much of human civilization the effort to make life easier or better; to get food when hungry easier through agriculture than hunting and migrating, to find a cure for cancer rather than stoically croaking in agony, to have a nation driving cars and watching big screen TV’s and football instead of inventing super-conducting electromagnetic highways or jogging super-marathons to work-that sort of seek-consumer-comfort project has been an essential goal of western civilization and that of much of the rest. It is why one fixes a leaky roof, makes war on bedbugs across Europe and generates electrical power. The revision necessary today is to accomplish that without destroying the ecosphere or reducing the quality of life for the poor and middle class.

The most strong men, those using steroids and performance enhancing drugs, want huge pay for playing kids ball games in order to have huge luxury things, pay low taxes and receive applause, glory and maybe enhanced dating opportunities, admission to the growing planetary aristocracy of elite millionaires and billionaires etc. Intellectually strong men (and women) might want some things to be made easy and others to be made more difficult. Who wants easy illegal drug importation into California from Mexico, or automatic rifles sent to Mexico? I think it would be great if it were easy to fly on a spaceship all over the Universe. Working to make difficult or impossible things easy has led inventors to try to make it so

In ages past of course people like Achilles wanted a warriors death as noble. Battlefield death avoided cancer and a variety of unpleasant, less glorious and unprofitable alternative ways to die.

If one has comparative social privations one wants things as easy as one's peers if possible.

The coefficient of physical, mental and moral adversity varies from circumstance to circumstance socially and geo-historically. Seeking after comfort as an end in itself can be as dangerous to one's well being philosophically as too much social and environmental stress. Of course those following The Lord have a mission in progress allowing them to rate challenges with a prioritization of values not the same as those with rather epicurean goals I would think.

'What is the purpose of religion' places the word religion into a class itself as an existing thing. If one is a sociologist one might examine them from an entirely empirical perspective and note ala B.F. Skinner some of the amoebic purposes of conformable behavior in each respective case. Philosophically speaking it may be inappropriate to generalize outside of the historical context or in disregard of it on the purpose of some religions assuming that all have equal functions within the meta-class of religions.

I believe the word religion is derived from a French word-meaning liege or allegiance. Christ had a mission to the world's lost different from that of other religions. One should at least make a survey of religions to learn why followers of particular beliefs regarded the works of the founder as worth devotion.

What is the purpose of life is a larger question that entails human responses to life in sub-unit paradigms such as 'what is the purpose of religion'. Some religious actions such as Islam may have been created for political organizing and power, yet one cannot assume that human knowledge has all knowledge of the purpose of religion if the origin is atemporal and divine. The search for the ultimate particle-a Higgs possibly, or a Higgs field as a field giving value and form to all other particles paradoxically itself possibly deterministic and not an all-possible world locations continuum before downloaded to observation. That is a Higgs field that creates solid state quantum particle selections entangling and excluding sufficient probabilities of being at other locations to statistically create the apparent Universe of solid state matter, has a comparable sort of uncertainty for human observers to us intrinsically that substantial knowledge of a Divine Being and His purpose have for clerics and mystics enquiring into the nature of God-one has a lot of uncertainty even if the topic is fascinating.

Capture of Drone RQ-170 Leaves Unanswered Questions

When the Iranian evidently brought the secret C.I.A. operated aircraft in for a safe landing perhaps by skyjacking the wireless controls or given the power to fly the aircraft by an insider espionage agent it is remarkable that the U.S. Government simply gave up power and had no dead-man device inside the detonate the air vehicle.

The entire idea of reducing large size aircraft with high radar profiles or small stealthy size for surveillance missions is somewhat expensive. Besides drone aircraft having some sort of explosive package that goes off if it flies below a specified altitude without being in U.S. government control, maybe U.S. legislators unable to get full employment and a better standard of living with no public debt within a reasonable time could be made to detonate to and a new set of legislators installed again with built in performance packages for incentive.

Some sort of a public employment, environmental and economic quality of life index made with public debt cognizance and so forth could be formed to rate any given congress on performance.

Very expensive fixed wing aircraft that are spy planes might be augmented by ultra-light transparent or lighter-than aircraft with miniaturized electronics and launched from large air-force planes by the thousands to have a very low radar signature yet be far cheaper. Maybe one could develop disposable cheap spy aircraft to deliver small amounts of emergency food supplies to starving populations without runways as well. That would be an interesting experimental opportunity.

Ideas About the Omnipotence of God

The neo-Platonist philosopher Plotinus wrote of the idea of The One in his Enneads. That concept of omnipotence of the One is consistent with what one might think about The One from a human point of view as contingent beings.

Cosmologists and physicists today have several paradigms regarding the nature of the solid-state matter-energy of the Universal phenomenality. It may be an exclusionary probability entanglement of the quantum world of all-possible worldlines of each waveform. One may view a Feynman diagram of a one- loop process within a field (probably in more than four dimensions) and extrapolate to a Higgs field donating mass or energy to the standard model's particles. The One however is initial meta-field at some point, and it always seems to me that the renormalization of philosophical explanations of cosmology with quantum mechanical foundation returns to the enigmatic monism of the One as well.

Quantifying things as referents linguistically or paradigmatically within Quinian categories of lexicons ontologically speaking seems a normal language practice. One might quantify a universe or universes in the abstract, quantify them as of infinite extension in space or time, or avoid specifying any sort of certainty in location or time and space as a routine part of theory. When one makes an idea description of all that a universe is the meta-paradigmatic boundaries of the description are cloudy and like the maps of the pre-Columbian era full of unknown shores. Uncertainty and incompleteness seem like quanta themselves that one might classify in some way.

It is difficult to imagine a universe made with quarks, strings, membranes, fields, monads, spirit, matter, energy or whatever as anything less than a monistic phenomenality given some pluralism for human observers with a process with uncertain local and non-local boundaries. The quantum universe and physical processes that occur before or after anything could be said to exist, or while a Universe exist is one aspect of the monistic power. For the indefinable God that emits or permits the Universe to appear the contingent events are his willed emanations malleable to fact of existence.

Without requiring pantheism, the pluralism of a Universe and quantum explanations, or field explanations of membrane and string phenomenalities is transparent and subjective within the will of God.

Use and Reference Theories of Meaning

Well, I have a couple of minutes to write something about the topic.

Wittgenstein of course was an early linguistic philosopher, son of the richest man in Europe, who served admirably in the First World War as a soldier in Europe. He actually worked on the Tractatus Logico Philosophicus while stationed in Italy. That was a little like Descartes in some respects who was stationed in Bavaria as a mercenary and wrote his Discourse on a Method after thinking contemplatively in a sauna. Descartes was never in love with a British fighter pilot though, and Wittgenstein was.

I was rather shocked to learn of that eccentricity of the philosopher whom was also a competent engineer. I believe his wealthy background and wierd life brought him to examine language for-itself as some sort of solid ground, though of course shfting and difficult to define linguistically speaking. His fighter jock was killed in the war.

http://plato.stanford.edu/entries/sellars/

Wittgenstein’s work after he moved to Cambridge as a PhD with Russell's help included writing the Blue and Brown books-those express his ideas about language rather well. He has a rabbit reffered to by natives as a 'gavagai'. By association a language translator learns what the meanings of gavagai might be and then forms a lexicon. Wittgenstein also uses the example of meanings such as 'bring a brick' in brick laying parlance. I reallize this is not a very technical discussion. Good reading.

Word meaning origins as explained within a philosophical context however may be found described a little more completely with W.V.O. Quine's 'Philosophy of Logic'-read the first few chapters, then try his 'Ontological Relativity'.

Quine placed all word structures within ontologies that may be regarded as sets. Sets of course have the elements of the set as potential referents and meanings. Wittgenstein associated word use with situation that conveyed a particular meaning to a given word use. Quine can acknowledge that implicitly however as a logician he has taken a look at the construction of language from phonemes and morphemes and built up from that an explanation of elements of interest to a logician rather than a grammarian the points of interest in discussing truth.

Intentional theories of meaning versus the extensional in some ways have a psychological component that was elaborated by empiricism working along Immanuel Kant's epistemological distinction of categories and meaning. Philosophically the location of meaning-in the mind or in the world, and the location of qualities such as objects seen, is a perennial topic perhaps resolved by quantum mechanics a little. Ideas that are of the mind such as 'I don't like strawberry pudding' differ from ideas with external referents such as scientists like. Extensional ideas refer to the material world while intentional ideas have a psychological and subjective component.

W.V.O. Quine of course abolished the analytic-synthetic distinction in his ’Two Dogmas of Empiricism'. Empiricism was given a real punch on the jaw from which it hasn't recovered. Quine helpfully provided his 'Ontological Relativity' to explain how language has a use and simultaneous reference basis. I enjoy reading Quine now and then and recommend his work.

Senate Should Vote to Defend Rights of Americans from Arrest and Exfiltration by U.S. Military

The U.S. Senate voted 99 to 1 not to clarify or defend the right of U.S. citizens to have due process of law when accused by the government of criminal or terrorist activity. Instead, because the laws are made by the rich and the rich were attacked by Al Qa'eda on 9-11, the Bush II provision allowing possible arrest of U.S. citizen sympathizers, associates or facilitators of Al Qa'eda and/or possible other activities deemed terrorist by the authorities greased the skids of the commoner Americans for rightless ransacking by black-bagging military exfiltration squads, anonymous foreign detention, stateless torture and military tribunals in-camera (secret). Seems like a rotten development.

http://www.nytimes.com/2011/12/02/us/senate-declines-to-resolve-issue-of-american-qaeda-suspects-arrested-in-us.html

I understand well that overpaid politicians with bad bills ought to be given extraordinary rendition and water boarded at Guantanamo Bay until they come to their senses. Newt Gingrich perhaps might give back the Freddie Mac 1.6 million dollar payment for working up a history profile or whatever for the CEO as 14 billion dollars was pilfered and lost as bad investments (how do you get it done Newt?), yet ordinary citizens should be free from such perfidy even if they plan to revolt against the government and need to develop a plan of attack.

It should not be illegal to plan to revolt against the government especially if it is fiction used for gaming purposes. War gaming in the present should be as acceptable socially as re-enacting civil war battles. How otherwise could new Commandants of West Point make the difficult decision to field a coup and restore a good government?

The idea that the 58,000 millionaires of Boston and the U.S. military are in some way good enough citizens to have the right to arrest and exfiltrate U.S. citizens from Harvard U. for waterboarding interrogations because they have knowledge of networks of Palestinian and Somali terrorist life ways is silly. President Bush II's incompetent post-war reconstruction plans for Iraq did more harm to the U.S. economy than a dozen flights crashing into the Pentagon and other sinks of U.S. taxpayer funding ever could. Maybe a President should be exfiltrated to Gitmo for waterboarding to reveal if he intentionally planned to run up such a military debt that social spending could be cut-such wickedness lurks in the halls of the rich and of defense contractors!

The right to plan revolts even if they aren't used is as fundamental for American liberty as the right to own guns. Without plans it would be impossible to have a civil war to remove an aristocracy today-and the founders believed that Americans implicitly have the right to revolt against corrupt, unjust, capital concentrating, deficit spending, oppressive rotten government as they did themselves.

In times past actual revolutions against the rich and the feudal over-vampires have required actual violence to get on. Though the United States has entered the age of moral and economic perfection with perfected interpretation of the scripture of Adam Smith with impeccable exegesis by economist-monks of the Chicago School, and hence peace and domestic tranquility shall forever ensue, one day some substantial element of the population may want to roll the heads of the rich again. Americans must protect that right-of-revolt for future generations since it a foundational element of liberty, equality and social justice as well as of full employment and good pay for all citizens.

Economics take note of the comparative thriftiness of revolutions. In the Al Qa'eda incident the assymetric economic warfare was entirely in favor of the cost-conscious Al Qa'eda, while in the Libyan revolution the expenses of the revolutionaries was far less than the historical defense spending budget of the Khaddafi administration.

Al Qa'eda may be a foreign terrorist organization-in translation it simply means 'the base'. So if a domestic terrorist militia does not affiliate with a foreign terrorist militia or lashkar then they are free from arrest by covert operators with HK's, night vision optics, niitrogen grenades for flash-freezing and so on?

Reason does allow U.S. military forces to help bag really tough clumps of terrorists in the U.S.A. if need be, as they could be called in to fight a Godzilla after the monster slaughtered L.A. Sheriff Department warriors. In regard to military arrests of American citizens thought to comprise a threat to the class interests of the rich through whatever means really threaten the rich (raising their taxes to 90%?), that should just never happen. If they are American citizens it just has to be good enough to give them a regular trial and then let them go to plan their next nativist uprising against the occupation forces of evil repressing the masses.

The Senate should pass a defense of civil rights act that clarifies the point that none of the rights in the constitution can be abridged and transmogrified into neat little pieces of paper airplanes like meaningless zen koans that float through space without leaving taxable footprints. American citizens should never be removed from the United States involuntarily for any reason unless to help former congressmen plan how to create more funding for defense contractors while cutting taxes for defense contractors.

The magic world of military torturers that Senator Graham seems to believe is supervised by a more dependable kind of citizen or foreign guest soldier/proxy (though none dare call it torture) is an inappropriate location for American citizens to have their legal questions examined. It is easy to understand that empowered government apes of righteousness beleive they can do no wrong and should not be summarily executed for abrogating the rights of U.S. citizens, and I would probably feel the same way too if I used steroids or was all juiced up to have no respect for the U.S. legal system. Recursion of righteousness inquisitors and degrees of torture appropriate for those thought to be threatening to the rich are tough questions for the government to secretly answer and to leave vague.

I might suggest that if the incompetent border security against illegal immigrants was corrected, and if more stringent standards were used for awarding citizenship to a constellation of five passport holding Americans such that they could have just one if naturalized, it would reduce the number of technical citizens lusting to drop a nuclear bomb on Washington D.C. more than regular politicians of a few foreign countries.

The U.S. legal system should leave no ambiguity about the rights of U.S. citizens to have due process of law in a public court by a jury of their peers. The needless and corrupting drift into the dark side of the force is an infarction to justice and a corruption of the spirit of freedom that was the purpose of the American experiment in democracy. It is quite reasonable and desirable that military powers to arrest and exfiltrate U.S. citizens beyond the jurisdiction of the state and federal laws within the territorial boundaries of the United States be defended against rather than supported. Supporters of such insidious evils are more of a 'them' caliber that raised the rebel flag at Ft. Sumpter than defenders of the American way.

Much Anticpated Higgs Particle Announcement Mañana

The CERN announcement tomorrow that people speculate will announce better evidence of the existence of a Higgs Boson particle of between 90 and 40 GeV yet possibly as much as 140 GeV will not herald the discovery of a 'god' particle embedded in solid state physics as a concatenated probability association of quantum uncertatinty. It would indicate that particle accelerators and theoretical physicists have taken one more step to fill in the sketch of the ways and forms that quantum energy takes in the Universe.

http://www.scientificamerican.com/article.cfm?id=how-does-the-higgs-boson

The Higgs field and its particle the Higgs boson are described by some as a new kind of mass, yet it has existed since the inception of the Universe within a given cosmological paradigm. Those cosmological theories change from time to time providing deeper knowledge yet not necessarily evolving in some linear, hierarchical order of consistency.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elementary_particle

A Higgs field is in some ways comparable to an electromagnetic field. The standard model of physics differs from string theory, which offers a deeper explanation for the values of quantum particles. The Higgs boson should have certain values in order to fit logically into the paradigm of values of other quantum particles. The Higgs field is believed to be more fundamental than the other particles, masses and fields and in fact to give them their mass. In other words the particles of the standard model are regarded as localized expressions of the Higgs Field. The Higgs boson too get's its mass from the field.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Higgs_boson#Theoretical_overview

I have no idea how physicists extrapolate the existence of uncertainty within a primordial Higgs field. Perhaps uncertainty is local within the universal non-locality of the field.

The Higgs field was early in cosmological inflation theory regarded as a possible source of the energy in Guth's theory. Now the Higgs field isn't now considered a cause of the initial or present expansion of space-time. Knowledge of dark energy-the lamda force- and its relation to a Higgs field (if either exist) are full of uncertainty.

Dante, Milton, Christians, Missiology etc.

Milton or Dante were great poets, and I have read and admired their skill along with Shakespeare in ages past. I write free verse of a philosophic nature in order to jot down ideas. Writing in formal style is something I have put little time in learning.

One might read about Homeric poetic style that kept the dactylic hexameter of earlier ages and be aware of the continuity of method that exists in contemporary rap music construction in that rhythm is an important mnemonic element. Milton was blinded and wrote in his 50s and so one might guess he was influenced by the rhythmic cadences of verse as a calming ocean wave of ideas overtook his thought.

I believe I read somewhere of Milton's experience after leaving Oxford of a friend poet who was drowned offshore of the S.W. coast of England, and that the experience affected Milton's style. Unlike Pilgrim's Progress composed in prison by Bunyan, Milton was a 17th century academically brilliant individual writing in an area where the method of construction was all-important. He wrote during the glory days of English ascendancy over the world of letters and world of sailing.

Today however Christians have a vast realm of ideas to experience as well as compete with. One finds the Evangelist Billy Graham's enduring personal appeal marvelous for the simplicity of his message-it rarely changed its form and was to the point. I have enjoyed listening to Vernon McGee's 'Through the Bible' recordings of Biblical exegesis-they are quite good.

The broadcast media in much of the world essentially puts out trash-have you experienced the U.S. broadcast media? It is a dumbing down experience generally and underutilized for scientific, humanities as well as historical and even Christian education. The media is a tool for the control of the masses and as Sartre said 'the fundamental relation of the listener to the broadcaster is impotence'.

It is possible to have web book computers and telecommunications apps that are readers of content such as the classics of Milton and of Dante, yet people must earn a living too. Christians need to reform their ecclesiastical and liturgical form as it is-the most unlikely thing is that they would embark far into the historical readings of reformation era poets, or even of late renaissance poets like Dante.

I have found as I have surveyed world literature, history and philosophy that I enjoy reading in new areas unknown to my prior experience reading. That is why I ranged abroad from standard U.S. and Western European history and philosophy readings into those of Russia and of the far east, and of course why I read with interest of the first world civilization at Sumer and of Abraham's role in leaving it's decadent phase as it became taken over by foreign control.

World civilization and its history set with the pre-historical researches of anthropology and archeology from the inception of mankind perhaps 200,000 y.b.p. comprise a continuum in which philosophical thought and Christian religious experience cohere. God has a secular history of interaction in human cultures as well as transcendent aspects that are translated in various forms unto the faithful. One becomes interested in the history of the University of Paris as well as of Arabic, Omar Kyham and the history of algebra. There are innumerable theories against God and Christianity today developed by incomplete learning and inadequate reading in history, the sciences and philosophy. Protestants too are interested in Augustine, Aquinas and Pope Gregory the First as well as Constantine the First and the last.

Christianity has obviously for most of its history been a light to the illiterate, however literacy in the modern post-Darwinian era does require that the faithful become aware of the complete database of knowledge that provide extracts for opposition to belief in God. Inadequate readings in Biblical history and scripture form a large part in stimulating wrong-headedness of secularist opposition to belief in God.

The reason for that has a foundation in the historical relationship of the Church to the state. Too often land owning clerics were regarded as oppressors, and of course Marx too made is statement about religion, opiates and the masses. In France clerics had tended to support conservatives. The problems of church and state associations oppressing the masses, or at least being in opposition to random 'liberal' movements is a reason why so many contemporary liberals including the U.S. Government seem to be in opposition to conservativism internationally except as it helps concentrate wealth.

Dante is certainly one of the world's great poets, however the inferno is more Jonathan Edwards-ish than many will accept as reasonable. I believe there may be a translation issue between various problems on the concept of hell today that is beyond Europe and America. The Shinto with volcanism and Kami, the Buddhist with the nihilation of nirvana, the Brahman recreation of a Universe every 50 billion years etc make the Inferno paradigm a little local and in a vernacular not appreciated by English as a second language speakers I would guess.

On the Question; Does the Universe have an Appearance For-Itself?

Reality has many definitions by many different conscious beings. Conscious beings describing experience tend to refer to their experience as being real. Reality as opposed to non-real aspects of reality is part of the larger meta-set of the given universe of that which does exist.

One gets to Sartre's 'Being and Nothingess' as a method of describing being and contingent non-being associated with the absence of previously existing things, or of hypothetical real things that are not presently observed (such as a Higgs boson). An observer has a capacity to observe his or her own experience as a part of reality perhaps rather than potentially all of it as if it were a universe the size of a marble made of lime green jello that if one were outside the Universe could be seen to roll downhill.

If reality is complete in any portion of it, as if it were a Mandlebrot fractal representative sample, an unlike the U.S. Congress made of contented millionaires, if it has a given appearance in a particular area, viewing itself without benefit of human observers or intelligent insects, ameoba with contempletive natures or such, would it's pantheistic self-awareness be aware of it's own location in reference to any potential contingent alternate location or appearance that could exist only as a product of its own imagination? Or would a self-aware universe without any human observers tor e't's o describe it that is still have an objective appearance subject unto itsself.

I suppose the concept of a self-aware universe that is a little neurotic wondering if it seems fat unto itself when it is really comparatively thin isn't really a question here. We will assume that unlike Einstein's relativistic yardstick that changes it length in a given iinertial reference frame that the Universe is like the Federal Debt that always looks the same although its really increases and the same for the nation's unemployment rate.

The Universe as it really is in a non-temporal state when it has finished 'growing up' may be transcendental and wonderful and be a bloc of oragne or green ecotplasm with marshmellow. Funny as that may be it is representative of the problem with describing a solid state object. Maybe it is simply a probability of The One that appears in many forms as it Wills now and then, from time to time.

Probably, outside of some theotransitional preferred point of view given by God, the potential for observing the entire universe as it appears objectively to a non-conscious being is limited. One might take something like the Keplar Space telescope or the Hubble or some other and give it instructions to survey the entire universe in given wavelengths to discover what the objective universe looks like, and in fact a WMAP portrait of the distribution of mass-energy about 300,000 years after the inflation of the universe from either the hypothetical size of a grapefruit or a collision as a membrane has been made. That portrait is not what the Universe looks like now though. Any space-time slice of the Universe made in a temporal order will differ a second later as it expands, contracts or changes its thermodynamic powers and configurations.

Perspective in consciousness is given with experience and conscious knowledge and learning allowing the cognoscenti to see deeper into the nature of things. Yet the solid state of matter-energy in this universe quadrant of human experience is the tip of a probability association wave from the quantum mechanical wave realm of all possible world lines. It is very difficult to even understand how any one-quantum wave has no particular existence apart from the virtually infinite number of places it might have been otherwise. Such locations have an infinite range. One particle that could have been sampled at point A might equally exist several light years away from its other locations at point A', A'' etc...

The nature of reality, the learning of cosmology and of perception and so forth are fascinating subjects. Like Bishop Berkley and the pure idealists we may wonder about where sense qualities cohere, or if all experience is holographic and how pain and hypothermia emerge in personal experience as impressively real and simultaneously subjective and objective.

Philosophers may use logic as well as physics to form their own ideas about reality, about the future, and how spirit or consciousness might be mapped by God for remixing in some future Universal or heavenly epic of kindness for human existence. Reality may be experienced by human beings yet probably not encompassed comprehensively within reason. Cosmologists can dry hypothetical space-time areas of mass-energy transitions and many are better than others, however the all inclusive set of definitions of reality that some scientists may seek after seem improbable to determine if for Godel's incompleteness theorem paradigm or numerous others.

Space-time mass and energy that appears against a backdrop of nothingness, and a nothingness without real distance from any other point of non-being. These are excellent things to consider, and wonder about as the many mansions said by Jesus Christ to exist in space if not in competent federal or Wall Street building plans for the homeless of the U.S.A. offers some hope for those that do not complete the course of discovering what the Universe looks like objectively, for-itself, perhaps as God views it and all of the creatures living in it simultaneously from their own points of view as well as his own.

School Marm Style of Newt Gingrich Sends Him to Top in Iowa Republican Polls

Republican Presidential primary candidate Newt Gingrich is leading the pack of Republicans lusting after the office of President. With an historian's point of view on world and domestic affairs Newt has no competence on current economic affairs of course, yet talking about the Battles of Bull Run and the Marne, genuflecting upon American greatness of the past and how it can be recovered with cheap imported webbook computers from Taiwan can bring many Iowan voters to believe that cutting capital gains taxes on the rich is actually good for them.

Contemporary history, economic history and so forth are sub-specialties within the overly specialized academic divisions of history. The Wall Street problems of greed and deregulation, the transformation of much of the U.S. labor market to a Latino center driving down wages and creating a reverse economic apartheid in the U.S.A. for strait white male workers, the corporatism ingression into ossifying the national infrastructure in partnership with government-these are items the Georgian historian is only dimly cognizant of if at all. Well, at least he knows who wrote 'Gone With the Wind'.

Farmers with a million in debt and some kind of physical assets making them small business class people are easy pickins for the slick 'I know better than you yet feel your pain' style of the former speaker of the House who was dumped by his constituents after allegations of modest achievements of political corruption.

One must wonder if Mr. Gingrich has any idea of the redistribution of American wealth abroad through a variety of financial instruments brought about by deregulation and federal leadership that resulted during his tenure as speaker, and if he believes that horizontal rainfall will send wealth from abroad to America to trickle down in financially parched regions of the U.S.A.?

The comfortable insiders of the Republican and Democratic establishments fully employed and prospering during these unshared hard times for 20-30% of Americans live in a different nation than many of the rest of the citizens of the United States in effect, and they have the entertainment industry and media on their side as only sycophants are admitted. The rich are very comfortable and can dump buckets of manure on those below complaining of their indifference about high unemployment in the U.S.A, and the military academies are bought and paid for to defend ruling class interests so the confidence of the comfortable insiders is not badly formed.

Newt Gingrich, Sexed Political Changes and Religious Wars

People may get the chance to answer the question 'who do you hate more- Newt Gingrich or Barrack Obama?' Alternatively Hollywood may make a thriller on President Obama as Abe Lincoln making a speech in advocacy of gays at Gettysberg.

Probably there were some homosexuals amidst other cabin vacating soldiers from the north that believed they were fighting to prevent oligarchy from rolling back democracy where it existed just barely.

If the Log Cabin Republicans are representative of Republican globalist designs the new U.S. military may be set to free gays all over the world with as much vigor as Grant attacking the Army of Virginia. Now that Obama has freed the gays the Republicans will have to put away their whips and chains-or perhaps not.

Maybe Mitt Romney can reverse the ill political winds of Washington in 2013.

http://www.ibtimes.com/articles/263571/20111208/lesbian-half-sister-dumps-newt-gringrich-says.htm

The President's record as a champion of queer reichs is unchallengable. Thats the problem with many Americans perhaps. Homos and tepid tax cuts, Obamacare and the prospect of 20 trillion dollars of federal public debt if he is re-elected. If Newt were elected and had a sex change to become Queen Maude the First I that would be about as alien.

Newt's lesbian half sister is reported to have said she supports Barrack Obama. Newt is evidently against activism in support of homosexuality. That position places him outside the Obama global gay rights activism clan.

The new normal seems to be a progressive wave of corrupt federal leadership. Plainly Alaska's Don Young has a reprehensible environmental record, he also spends too much federal money in the state and is happy to cut services to the poor to pay for it.

America as the official planetary advocate for the sin of homosexuality may bring as much political insecurity as to advance it. One might wish a President would have more restraint before through his hat into the queer eye for the world strait guys ring willy nilly.

The new normal as a way to advance weirdness and public debt into American politics seems to be the goal of the broadcast media. I suppose the entertainment industry is a kind of networking leadership of depraved people that have little respect for individual economic rights. Maybe the price of cocaine will drop enough that those in front of television cameras have more creative thought.

One might wish to keep the record straight on who these Republican candidates are-even Sarah Palin doesn't seem so bad these days. Only Mitt Romney seems like an adult candidate running for the Republican nomination. The Iowans seem to prefer religious war sides as an essential element of choice for leadership. St. Bartholomews day all over again I maybe.

Eurozone Evolution to New Economic Warsaw Pact?

Europe as an economic Warsaw Pact wit former East European nations merging with the west under the benevolent guidance of a superior German union may by jolts and starts bump its way to becoming an example of the New World Feudalist Order under a kinder, gentler, evil ruling class of global supremists. Some obviously will object that quantitative cons by global arbitragers, insurance scammers, corrupt gangstering stock transaction rocket science quality scheming and other perfidy may be a blessing for those inferior people globally that fail to appreciate the force backing up the Evil New World Empire. Well-picky, picky, picky.

Contemporary sophists may persuasively argue that Gingrichian New World Order Economics is an inevitable consolidation of the inferior by the superior. A socialist underclass ruled by true capitalist majority network shareholders have overcome the problems raised by nationalism an individualism in economics and politics that lead to the sorts of chaos and war that elites have always opposed.

The founders of the United States of America valued individualism an individual rights most highly in the secular political sphere. Today they would reign in runaway organizational corporatism an globalism and restrict business organization to a bite-size and shareholding to a few companies in order to promote individual material prosperity as the foundation for democratic capitalism rather than vice versa. Plainly sophists will stipulate that the founders could not have been more wrong in not reinforcing rule by foreign aristocracy. Again it will be said that opponents to the New Corporate Feudalism are overly picky.

President Obama has sent some of his crack Bush II era financial advisory team to Europe to confer on how to help the Eurozone transition into a better supine position for global corporate takeover. If Newt Gingrich is elected President he can exploit his Reagan-Clinton era economic-political restructuring expertise to help build a new 2008 financial, banking and investment crash that will bring Europe to its knees faster and with more panache.

In order to create a New World Feudalism for elite sport the United States and Eurozone must be volatilized politically. Individualism and private individual interests must be quashed and totalized network economic control promoted. The masses must be massified and national independent reinforcement of private individual property annihilated. With the masses dependent for their survival economically upon networks of global scale mass economic power over the masses will gradually and sometimes suddenly transition into the determinative power of the wealthy elites with concentrated wealth and power.

Obamacare's Underestimation of the Effect of the Unexploited Risk Pool

No one really knows what a 'constitutional republic' is. One can refer to Plato's republic, or that of the Dewitt Brothers in 16th century Holland, or the Florence of the Medici as examples of Republics preceding in theory that of the United States of America, yet the founders designed a new in order to prevent aristocracy and rule by elite organizations from existing in the new nation, conceived in freedom with liberty and justice for all.

Today the organizational phenomenon of corporatism and collectivism has dwarfed individual economic efforts. Actual restorationist conservatives would need to attack the collectivism of Wall Street globalism vigorously in addition to tramping on the poor as the right does presently in their ideological subjugation to a New Feudalist World Order.

The people of the United States have just so many resources to work with, and must allocate those resources optimally if possible including health care to have a healthy work force. Millions of poor American, self-employed labor entrepreneurs work for themselves at their own risk if they want to work at all. Corporations and government would prefer they sit on their hands.

Rhetoric effectively in support of Wall Street corporatism and globalist political hegemony over American economic self-interest is an abandonment of nationalism and an onerous subserviance to an aristocratic malevolence of an inferior class of would-be rulers of the planet.

The U.S.A.'s founders were advocates of individualism rather than aristocracy. They used what philosophical tools they had to design a polity that freed individuals from shackles of elite organizations of exploitation. I do not doubt that the founders would not have been confused by organizational wise guys requiring that individuals purchase health care insurance or buy Jamaican rum to exist as an American.

The founders given the opportunity to govern a public with real health care costs that occur by default and transform that into the nation's best economic interest, would have. The founders were not timid ideological losers that would get down and roll over if the right sophist phrasing were used.

I believe a free public health care system for the poor is the practical and affordable way to create a healthier America at lowest cost. It should serve veterans better too while also existing as an emergency public medical service in case of neutron bomb or designer plague attack.

Most of the designers of Obamacare are office types that risk getting a paper cut at most. Paper cuts can be painful of course we should stipulate. The designers of Obamacare believe that U.S. health costs for the middle class may be subsidized through payroll deductions younger workers without insurance can may-or their employers I would guess, when the payments are eventually made.

Those working class Americans with regular employment who are younger and uninsured tend to be covered on the job by workers compensation policies, yet not all of the poor and younger workers have good corporate jobs. Many of them work for themselves at their own risk, often have injuries that go untreated and have no spare money to remotely consider paying for health insurance.

With the addition of a few million self-employed workers laboring, painting, o jobbing their way without any job security at all from job to job and living on less than half the annual American average income the opportunity to have free government mandated health insurance will bring some opportunities for free surgery and dump a load of impossible to complete paperwork. Those workers will need to send in tax data on ‘how I was a digger for Joe at the last house on the right’ for 3 hours last Wednesday, and ‘then I traveled via hitchhiking to Texas and looked for something to paint and got about 5 bucks and hour for five days but also got hit in the eye with an airless paint sprayer jet before bumping my head, falling and tearing my rotator cuff and popping out my subluxed ankle for the tenth time this year.

My travel expenses were pretty high because I bout a few burgers at McDonalds instead of going to the missions on the way-yet it was faster that way. Also I rode a bike 30,00 miles the past few years looking for a regular job but didn’t find none, and ain’t got no post office box anywhere cause that costs a days work at Labor Ready and they ain’t got enough work. I think the Guatemalans are taking all the local odd jobs.

Seriously though, with free insurance there will be millions of workers seeking to get their backed up surgeries and things done that they ordinarily just don’t worry about. The cheapest thing to do would be to create a free public medical service for the poor in the U.S.A., keep the workers healthy and stop dumping more bureaucracy and more emergency medical costs for treatment that the middle class end up paying for anyway through their most-expensive and inefficient way to provide health care to Americans unwelcome to have regular employment much less with health benefits.

The hypothetical youth risk pool on soft jobs with good pay able to afford to help pay for middle class health costs may be a figment of the collective dump debt on others imagination so popular in conservativism the past couple of decades. probably it won't work this time.

Free Public Health Care for the Poor Does Not Need Socialism

In a democracy the people may construct government establishments to enact services as they wish, such as war, construction of commerce and defense infrastructure, provisioning of relief supplies and so forth.

It might be more fun to have the free enterprise of civil war and get rid of the laws and allow the logic of automatic weapons, nitrogen grenades and sundry explosives to adjudicate the property and taxation disputes in a free society in order to prevent the imbalance of the advantaged becoming too rich and concentrating power, wealth and legions of goons bought and paid for to repress their class enemies. That isn't the way many have believed society best functions though. Some may prefer to have absolute power, yet it is sometime rolled back a bit.

Socialism is a society with a state run economy. Today there is a corporate-government partnership developing that is more of a version of corporatism with idiot aristocratic characteristics. Because it compiles vast wealth the economy is retarded and unable to meaningfully change toward an ecospherically sustainable basis-that is very dangerous.

There is no particular pure ossification of capitalism that would work within Adam Smith's criterion to best advantage the people today that would eliminate all government provisioning of services including ecosphere defense. Presently that toilet you drop a load of crap in is connected very likely if you are like most Americans to a public sewage line.

It might be best to have Incinolet electric toilets and home fuel cells to provide power yet affluent pooping networks are not preponderantly completely private business. The trouble with crank political theorists is that they have no concept of actual economic reality as it is structured within political philosophy and have no tools to actually change it for the good.

Those traffic laws and law enforcement on the street are public provided goods enforced instead of the bumper car mayhem that would be more enjoyable for bike riders to watch perhaps. When hydroelectric dams break for lack of public oversight, inspection or maintenance the private sector could be sued for failing to provide good emergency services in private courtrooms with corporate justices-wait, we have got Chief Justice Roberts!

Generally the people have the good sense to seek to secure their best self-interest and way of life including public and private concerns. Public medical provisioning for the poor is one rational investment the public may invest in.

The liberty of aloof citizens nurtured from youth with free public education, defended by veterans of military service, given medical service from physicians trained in public universities, protected by public law enforcement agencies, wearing clothing and eating food inspected by government inspectors, driving on highways and bridges built at public expense, receiving electrical supply for factories and homes generated at publicly financed projects and so forth is not the only role for government.

The poor also have need of medical service. Your liberty isn’t being traded away if poor self-employed working people have some medical coverage for hernia and other injuries that put them out of working health. Christians should have some concern about creating a good government that works to assure full employment, complete medical coverage for the poor and a health ecosphere. Free enterprise is one of the basic opportunities for the poor to advance their self interest and independence, yet one of their great vulnerabilities is in the medical field. I had to pay for hernia surgery in 2010 by trading my real estate to a surgeon. Living for years in a tent is not as good as building a hut for-oneself. The corporate world is cold blooded and globalist and quite impractical as regards social equality for Americans.

Wall Street has already sold your liberty to the Chinese and globalists buying up the United States as it is. If pseudo-conservatives have any interest in the United States remaining a somewhat free nation they would need to take their blinders off and set aside global corporate control to man up to real politik in the United States looking real human interests directly in the eye and stop being corporate pimps of real humanity.

One should regard one’s fellow citizens a little like soldiers regard other soldiers in their units and not deny them medical coverage if they are injured-wait! Maybe that a good new idea and corporate contractors could charge wounded soldiers for medical services giving them special credit and better treatment for those that aren’t socialists. They should also start paying for their food I guess.

Human beings that are injured or starving, without shelter and so forth must get those services somewhere if the exclusivists of corporate-government axis don’t provide them. A lot of time can be wasted and public expense compiled indirectly. When a society is run by a bunch of indignant, advantaged louts extolling their own greed to the harm of their fellow citizens seeking a rational government emergency safety net with a real healthy self-help free enterprise sector besides one expends much effort in getting relief from the repressors.

Sure one could be a libertarian anarchist moron believing in delusion that mass social organizations haven't already taken over most of the U.S. economy. It is just that the comfortable like to kick around the poor perennial and the intellectually challenged bark along on command for more reward.

Dagomir Kaszlikowski wrote an interesting piece published in Scientific American's online 'Guest Blog' on the topic of how macro-reality is a result of the underlying quantum mechanical, non-local reality. He relates his description to the EPA paper of Einstein and others from several decades ago. That paper has been much read in recent years in regard to its forward looking content.

http://blogs.scientificamerican.com/guest-blog/2011/12/05/new-theory-explains-how-objective-reality-emerges-from-the-strange-und

One might guess that non-locality in the quantum world also means non-relativity. Space and time or space-time could perhaps be a sort of local feature of an entangled macro-quantum universe of solid states.

The quantum world seems to have non--locality in it in relation to the conventional world or universe with solid objects in it. That non-locality provides an appearance of letting particles travel faster-than light or faster than any of the macro-particles that seem to exist in the local 'reality.

Obviously one must wonder if space or time are somewhat separable features of the quantum world as it emerges into the locality of large clumps of space-time. I believe that Kaszlikowski offers a statistical entanglement and exclusion principle as a reason why non-quantum features emerge from the quantum universe. Perhaps local features are emergent characteristics something like standing temporal waves of objects in reality.

That does give one pause to wonder how the entire space-time Universe emerges from quantum non-locality letting it provide an area for objects to appear. One might think that the quantum world has everything possible within it all of the time and yet only such things that are downloaded into reality because of quantum entanglement become local reality.

Local non-quantum reality is apparently something that is just observed by intelligent beings generally as more than statistically entangling units of mass-energy. The reason for those quantum entanglements is something difficult to know. As gravity and black holes appear as space-time aspects of the macro-local reality the relation of each to quantum non-local objective clump of things-in-themselves is interesting in numerous points.

One might wonder what effect non-local quantum reality in-itself experiences in relation to local clumps of statistically entangled of apparent mass-energy? To what extent are all quantum waves unbound and non-local? Can non-locality in quantum mechanics form any meaningful structures as unbounded non-local 'objects' for-themselves?

The definition of a Universe or Metaverse isn't perhaps a referent to an infinite object, which it probably is. As human elements within that Universe or set of all sets it is challenging to be a subset that defines the infinite metaset. Well, Most everyone knows what the Universe is I would think. The physical delimitations of it change all the time as do metaphysical speculations about it.

If the Universe is a locality as a phenomenal download from an underlying pervasive non-locality the the terms referring to the material local universe are somewhat contingent and useful mostly within that locality of a Universe.

I cannot imagine how all of those quantum waves in non-locality with all possible worlldlines existing in space-timeless non-relativistic potential cohere in any meaningful sense in anything at all-even a 'Universe' of quantum non-locality.

Shell Oil Moves to Attempt Development In Arctic Ocean Near Alaska

Because the U.S. economy is somewhat moribund on energy progress into newer, cleaner forms global oil corporations like Dutch Shell have made billions and billions of dollars developing oil prospects in ecospherically sensitive area. Alaska is again a target for oil development that is generally deathly for substantial biospheric elements.

http://www.adn.com/2011/12/03/2201550/shell-gambles-billions-in-arctic.html

It is rotten to be without a job in Alaska. The weather is tough and injury and death in the cold are not rare. Anchorage is a city that has lost its historically more frontier sociality and has transitioned into being a safe, tight corporate city-state that global corporation partner with politicians. The city of Juneau has itself tightened up and eliminated about all free wireless Internet access through which independents might post. Fewer than two or three Internet portals exist at no cost, and a state capital ought to be completely wired in order to encourage free enterprise Internet venturing.

The employed can be fired if they write from their own homes in antipathetic expression to global corporate political takeover.

Corporatism is a political economy upgraded since Mussolini and Hitler's day to become a state dominated by add hoc concentrated wealth that represses individual liberty and democracy making one feel that they live in a mild form of Soviet evil empire with the corporate communards being the lucky goons with good paychecks. Alternative individual development should be regarded as worth respecting in an actual democratic political environment instead.

Oil development costs the public billions or trillions in opportunity lost for better domestic transportation schemes that are shelved. Oil does work of course, yet it is just one technology that is over-exploited and too influential politically. Alaska could use super-conducting power lines to power electric vehicles in new ways of moving about, yet who would invest in that when the potential to spill oil under the Arctic Ice exists instead?

Oil, drilling fluids and other toxic materials released under the ice may travel for months before observation by non-corporate personnel. Arctic ocean currents may move and somewhat disperse pollutants far away from a sporadic point source. No records are kept of the total history of noise pollution in the water adversely impacting arctic sea mammals.

Shell is building its own icebreaker so it will match the U.S. Coast Guard fleet in that. One would prefer a better, more ecospherically benign and diversified employer portfolio in Alaska rather than the cash-heavy, whale insulting oil industry as the jewel in every Governor's eye.

A Reply to the Statement that 'Mind is a Formal Essence'

I like that definition. It appears to be something from the philosophy of logic or perhaps set theory. One must be careful though not to exploit self-referencing systems so far as to stipulate they may create real existence in the abstract.

I wonder if written words haven't an aesthetic equivelent of sound and speech. The things one utters may be satisfying and even appropriate yet less than extrinsically meaningful.

One might want to say that mind is empty. Yet an empty mind is a kind of equivelent of non-being and only seems to gain meaning and even self-cognition as it acquires content and non-emptiness. All of those synaptic connections store data in chemical form with neural storage and asssociation structures of tremendous complexity.

Essences and essentialism were a part of the philosophy of logic I believe that is somewhat transcended now as it were because more complete descriptions or categorizations of the empirical world of experience are regarded as linguistic ontologies or sets. Essences of things like atoms tend to be regarded as descriptions of locations and relations in language rather than as things-in-themselves.

Classical realism is somewhat of a theological question. Language and even set theory may refer to existing 'real' structures or 'things' yet still be regarded as just phenomenal descriptions of events or processes.

At any rate your definition is an interesting approach that seems to describe mind as a set theory or formal classification (as in Quine's 'Philosophy of Logic'). I haven't read that book for a few weeks and am a little vague on the distinction between formal and applied logical forms.

Eurozone Axis of Next Global Financial Collapse?

The world’s waves of epic blitzkreig mass media broadcast misdirection and financial swindling packaging temporal political and deregulatory packages into structures amenable for plucking by high tech quantitative redistributors of wealth from the people to the corrupt has concentrated its efforts presently upon The Eurozone. Quants must be having a field day flipping arbitrage clumps of Euros, Dollar and the Yuan. Some might even be readying for betting on a return of the Drachma, Deutchmark and other currencies lot lost to the past. Will the Ruble look like a safe place to stash some of those log rolling political windfalls if the Euro joins confederate dollars in the past?.

http://blogs.wsj.com/economics/2011/12/01/soros-world-financial-system-on-brink-of-collapse/?mod=google_news_blog George Soros speaks

As Chancellor of the Exchequer Winston Churchill requested a compliant President Herbert Hoover to increase money supply. Today the Eurozone has effectively had President Obama do the same via its printing press loans to Eurozone entities.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chancellor_of_the_Exchequer

Its been said that by the end of next week the world should know if Eurozone financial perfidy ostensibly progressing a sophomoric new world order zone idea of mass market conformity will lead the way into another, improved round of global financial collapse.

This next possible economic infarction is believed to have prospects for being a record setter surpassing the 2008 Wall Street banking and derivatives/mortgage failures. Insider economic sclerosis cannot always be relieved by a jolt of instant printing press bug juice and a sermon of voodoo economics. It is beleived that if enough Europeans have a new Euro flag to salute perhaps the medicine can be given as patriotic monetary sacrifice for the good of the masses allegiant to an oligarchy.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Inside_Job_(film)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FzrBurlJUNk Inside Job trailer

Many of the same players and global financial skill sets are back as veterans leading the surge of long distance, speed of light arbitrage and monetary manipulations. The Eurozone trough for potential profits must have attracted a legion of investor to the dark pools of meta-monetary extractions.

http://www.rferl.org/content/what_if_the_eurozone_collapses/24409489.html

Philosophically one might wish that value theory were modernized to reflect real geo-temporal national values and that speculation and quantitative trading was substantially curbed. As it is the non-production sector of financial and government continue like an over-populated vampire colony to feed upon the small-time free enterprise cows innocently grazing the fields of nations.

The possibility of a Barrack Obama vs. Newt Gingrich U.S. election in 2012 may restore fear to the markets as the U.S.A. proves itself completely incapable of even nominating intelligent economic reform minded nationalistic candidates to the highest office. Yet if so we may ask, what of it? The market seems to have the poor, unemployed and increasingly the middle class to kick around increasingly as payback for delays in its conquering the world financially. Anyone financially online may have their assets redistributed to the wealthy one way or another-if not through mortgages than through the power company or fuel station.

Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke has shared the Chinese wealth a little to the Eurozone liquidity crisis with a quantitative easing through half-price U.S. loans to European banks. The Chinese were uninterested in directly loaning money to the Eurozone.

One would prefer that the Eurozone be talked down from its suicidal perch on the top of the financial world and return to national currencies and firewalls a little at a time. The new world order of slick financial skimming globally should be bulldogged, hogtied and rendered unto history museums.

Adapting national economies to local sustainable resource use and employment should involve cutting out the middleman of cyber-space financial perfidy from planetary players with concentrated wealth seeking to rope-a-dope of yocality. The global trans-national investment era creates an apparently ideal network of economic irrationality as a kind of inversion of neural network devoted to reason, full employment, a good society and ecosphere.

Some of the nations least economically integrated in the New World Financial Disorder seem to be most secure from incipient waves of financial collapse when speculative quantitative profit taking temporal arbitrage overcomes political economic control. Iran with substantial sanctions upon it may suffer little if the Euozone and the dollar collapse. Russia and Iran too would be better set than China if the global financial house of cards experiences a new wind of change.

1700 Billion Gigatons of Carbon in Soil of the North-Global Warming Permafrost Melt?

Scientists have made a revised forecast of the acellerated effect of global warming melting of permafrost and its release of greenhouse gases. Evidently its worse that was previously thought. Not as bad as all of the automobile exhaust and smokestacks, yet substantial.

http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2011/11/111130161535.htm?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+sciencedaily+%28ScienceDaily%3A+Latest+Science+News%29&utm_content=Google+Feedfetcher

Permafrost across the northern regions of the Earth may thaw and release methane and other greenhouse gases. I wrote a small article on that topic in 1988-89 or 90 in a Fairbank's paper on the possibilty of permafrost thawing and releasing toxic waste the city wanted to store deep underground thhereby polluting the aquifers-its not a new topic yet one that is not given enough political prioritization as part of a comprehensive effort to slow extraction industry assaults on the ecosphere.

Global corporate pursuit of proprietary interests could be redirected toward less harmful ventures with some intelligent political supervision. Medium sized corporations should be reinforced and large corporations phased out. Sustainable ecosphere use should be given tax support and non-sustainable extraction industries given a special ecosphere tax.

In Alaska though iit is the extraction industry globalists that determine much of the state's economy. I believe mining produced about 3.6 billion dollars worth of zinc, gold, silver and other materials last year. Global corporations in pursuit of profit own many of the ventures in Alaska. The Mayor of Anchorage Dan Sullivan shares the same name as the State's Commissioner of The Division of Natural Resources that includes mining and oil. The State gives hundreds of millions to expand the Port of Anchorage with shoddy construction work requiring reconstruction and wants more. The global fate is inn the hands of politicians with the insider's proximity to existing wealth and power and that includes the global mining concerns that seek to develop the Pebble Mine in the headwaters of salmon streams at Bristol Bay.

The globalists of Wall Street have far more invested in destroying the planetary ecospheric equilibrium than in sustaining it as a viable habitat for humanity.

N.Y.S.E. To Learn to Speak German? Deutsche Boerse AG Nears Takeover

Since Feb. 2011 a German firm-Deutsche Boerse AG- has sought to buy about 60% of the New York Stock Exchange. That makes for an interesting advance of globalism in the U.S.A. Also today the London Stock Exchange and the Toronto Stock Exchange ownership merged. The corporate world's networks of power influence local business and politics substantially to the detriment of the poor and middle class at least in the U.S.A.

http://www.suntimes.com/business/3752109-420/story.htm

In Alaska there has been a political effort to sell natural gas for decades. Recently the state helped an Australian and a Singapore company with loans along with a Chinese Bank to buy a jack-up oil rig or two for natural gas prospecting in Cook Inlet. Some natural gas was found and more prospecting will go ahead next spring. Meanwhile the state is funding a plan to build a 'bullet' pipeline from the North Slope to Anchorage. The two projects seem to contradict one another to a certain extent,as the purpose is to provide a gas supply to Anchorage.

It has been said that liquified natural gas could be sold to overseas buyers though, and that could make the bullet pipeline feasable financially even if there is a supply of shale gas fracked in the 48 states that makes buildinng a pipeline from Alaska to the 48 state network via Canada unpprofitable.

The political process goes on ad infinitum annd the winners seem to be select extraction industry insiders and politicians. I would guess that Exxon-Mobil can influence prices by choosing what development to support at least as well as the Congress.

A Canadian Corporation has purchased a pipeline to transport U.S. oil from the Midwest for refining in Texas and/or Louisiana for sale to Latin America. Well heck, petrol only sells for $3.50 a gallon now and won't be 4 bucks until next summer. So who needs a non-fossil fuel transport infrastructure in the U.S.A. with global corporations buying everything in sight and concentrating wealth? The Congress just needs to have preferred seating at the trough.

On Moral & Space-time Relativism and the Pursuit of Right Directions

Moral relativism might be taken as comparable to space-time relativism. One might ask why anyone should have a direction or purpose if all locations exist in relation to other coordinates. Yet of course we might believe that it must be so of necessity if a completely deterministic ontology isn't to prevail a priori.

One may not assume that with relativism in moral judgments that all judgments are of equal worth. Certainly that can not be the case subjectively unless one abnegates the value of one's own existence and fate. It is possible to do so subjectively of course, yet the self-deprecation is itself subjectively relative and of little consequence if a Supreme Being exists who donates worth to each individual soul for-himself.

Within a given moral context or moral set of values the navigational buoys are set to guide individuals toward particular empirical goals such as social reason considers valuable. Life, social harmony, education- such means and ends as reinforce individual education and pursuit of the aforementioned are indicated with moral values of a pragmatic application. Individuals may apply their own innovative style upon a course through social life and regard such moral beacons and guidelines as parameters for the ascent of aging and transitions-stages in life's way as Kierkeguaard might have said. Plainly the need to invent one’s own morality, own's own physical theory of causality and so forth entirely de novo for oneself in each individual life would be too time consuming as well as a perennial reinvention of moral primitivism. Social morality becomes a reinforcing pedagogical sketch of fundamental parameters allowing social passage through the shoals of chaos and conflict.

Moral concepts of right and wrong may evolve-they obviously have in many areas such as in the elimination of slavery as a basic human norm of captives not executed, yet morality tended to evolve in relation to the social structure of the time a posteriori rather than a priori. Besides the Lord Jesus Christ the ability to obviously set new social morals significantly differing from the prevailing social ethical and religious practices has been often insubstantial.

Morality it is said is what people actually do in a society rather than what is said about a theoretical moral environment optimized for efficiency. Moral procedures tend to cohere within a prevailing political and ethical system. The difference between an Aristotelian polity and that of a democracy would vary, as would that of an oligarchy and/or aristocracy in regards to the social permissiveness of behavior between classes socially.

Christians have a preferred direction ontologically in relation to a transcendent God and that is a kind of hyper-relativism. Human beings are mortal creatures each with a body and mind that fails like a plant withering under the frosts of fall. Regardless of one's moral positions eventually death overtakes each life and is completely triumphant. The cold, dark abyss of a universe without meaning or moral disposition arrives to reclaim its phenomenally upsurge conscious subjects and return them to nothingness.

That ontological phenomenality of human experience is a reason why mankind looks to Jesus Christ as a transcending Savior able to surpass the failings of moral relativism that is the common experience of mankind as a temporal creature. Being and nothingness of experience for-itself elicits a human response that is not morally relativistic. So far as the Universe and moral experience are real they are also finite for human purposes of experience. Moral relativism seems to require a kind of infinite set of possibilities without finite, not relativistic delimitations in order to be fully relativistic. One might expect such infinite relativism in a multiverse of infinite expanse yet within each universe boundary conditions of physics would exist bringing the human experience of infinite relativism down to finite lines.

Moral relativism may as a voyeuristic moral study of other cultures find that different navigational buoys for moral guidance may not be of equal effectiveness in sheparding the flocks toward its optimal actualization as temporal beings. One might assume that some systems of social governance and moral instructions produce better results than others. One might also assume reasonably that the design of particular moral guidelines must be adapted for each culture's challenges. We learn of somewhat different moral structures in the Mosaic laws and deuteronomical-Levitical applications than in the Gospel of Jesus Christ yet understand that rather than being an existential temporal moral intervention the teleology of God was in a process of actualizing a relationship with human beings and their history. The Phenomenology of Spirit that G.W.F. Hegel described has a corresponding individual experience for each life that might be discerned within the sequential incarnative processes of individuals mentioned in the Brahmanist tradition. Each individual should given enough opportunities realize himself as a part of God's creation. The moral changes from time to time or culture to culture are believed to build toward something greater-an encounter with the Creator.

Christians of course believe that can be accomplished in this one lifetime through a relationship with Jesus Christ. In that way the grace of God may reconcile the fallen human condition trough the atoning blood of the Savior.

On Capital Materiality; The Phenomenon of Hording in Scale

Popular political philosophy since the cold war ended has taken something of a beating and devolved through the media zeitgeist into an economic existentialism advocating an absolute pursuit of self-interest to the exclusion of belief in social reality except as self-interest. It is something of a juvenile way of abnegating social, political responsibility. Society does exist in a concatenated state even as the individuals of it pursue their own self-interest. Like a football team the populous must have a fundamental game plan to win prosperity and security a viable ecospheric habitat. Unlike a football team the populous can and should pursue its individual interests with liberty and non-militarized uniformity.

Aristotle might have been more concerned with real politik and the prevention of the polity decaying into pure democracy and mob rule, or the more evil prospect of Aristocracy trickling upward into being oligarchy than today's economic existentialists of conservative bent, yet Americans today have exacerbated their historical trend against intelligent philosophical thought and just moved into a popular philosophy of super-sizing material things and capital in general.

From a pragmatist's point of view one needs material things to serve particular functions. Housing must be adequate to provide secure shelter and serve personal and social economic efficiency. Lifetime is limited so one doesn't want to tangentialize material possessions and become encumbered with maintaining a mansion or even a bureaucracy as the primary life experience. There are many experiences possible in life that are of equal or greater worth than just a few super-sized material items.

So one looks for other reasons why one must super-size possessions such as homes or SUVs and might discover than social equality or keep a defense parity against the advantage and opinions of other citizens is one of the basic causes for escalating personal investments in standard and predictable ways. Socially the opportunity cost for seeming to be living counter to a prevailing popular opinion may be financially significant. Social economic inertia drives the masses under the influence of concentrated power and wealth superiors along unsustainable social ends.

Value theory is a philosophical activity cognizant of the real value of goods or things, situations or circumstances, relationships and so forth for an individual and a society. Value seems to cohere within utility even if when utility is satisfied values for inessential items may arise to dominate a society. When societies compel individuals by circumstance and opportunity cost to buy very much oversized housing at high cost it has over valued non-utility and may create social dysfunction that spreads like waves outwards through the economic value exchanges into social regions unable to afford the luxury of investing in non-utility. If Americans were to build concrete dome homes with secure interiors, exteriors and adequate privacy and ecospheric integrity in the yard for a fraction of today's cost of quarter million dollar middle class homes perhaps Americans could save more for surfing, biking, sailing, skydiving or composing a poem. Some Americans could become inventors at home or learn a new field of science. The trouble generally is in developing more efficient and better quality housing at a lower cost as a fundamental effort and value of society.

If one could afford a decade's worth of food supply for one's home it still might be unreasonable to get more than a month supply. If a home is far larger than is useful within the context of one's life shelter and living needs it is as much a wasteful hording venture consuming one's time as if one buys far too large a boat to get to the other side of the river and spends years paying for it.

Aristotle and Polity; Moderate Government for the Advantage of the Poor/Pres. Obama's Tax Cuts for the Rich

I am re-posting some comments that I wrote in January 2011 on the President's failure to reasonably negotiate in the interests of demos of the United States. I would also like to point out a good article on Aristotle summarizing some of the main points of his descriptions of politics and especially democracy.

Ordinarily people have a misunderstanding of Aristotle. This 13 page article of summary is worth reading even if only to learn the difference between a polity and a democracy, or how Aristotle believed that Aristocracy transitioned destructively into oligharchy.

In this article Aristotle is found to have the opinion that polity-s sort of representative democracy, is the most moderate and therefor, I would think, best.

Fork in the Political Road-President Obama Advocated Regan Quality Tax Cut Extensions

January 28, 2011 04:13 PM EST

The public debt of the United States is about 14 trillion dollars today. If the tax cut extensions had been allowed to expire the budget would have naturally balanced in two years. Since the tax cuts the President anticipates federal budget deficit the next decade at which time it might be reduced to 50% of todays.

By 2015 the public debt will be out twenty trillion, and interest on that debt will be more than a trillion dollars annually. Right now interest on the public debt is about 3/4s of a trillion annually.

http://www.federalbudget.com/

President Obama, in order to be responsible needed to be a Harry Truman kind of 'the buck stops here' guy and veto any tax cuts. With additional federal budget cuts the public debt could have started dropping in 2013. With the tax cuts and a balanced budget, any budget cuts would have enabled direct reduction payments on the debt principle reducing interest payments as well.

The corporate world is already having record profits in many areas. The rich are getting richer. Jobs are being outsourced. Illegal aliens still come and go by the millions. High unemployment will continue for several years. Fundamental national political accountability has been breached with global corporate interests taking precedence. The federal government in 2008 and 2009 bailed out the corrupt rich with trillions of dollars of financial help and left the jobless to twist slowly in the wind.

The employed are making good money and can afford to pay taxes; the unemployed don't have to pay taxes except from leftover earnings for which they might receive amnesty. The rich need to be taxed at pre-Reagan cut rates.

I write about this issue with pragmatic concern. In Anchorage Alaska there were created 500 jobs net growth in 2010, 1000 new jobs are anticipated in 2011.

A reform of American capitalism is needed as a general an oligarchy, anti-financial monopoly action, low entropy ecological economic are required too, and full employment rather than making America another Mexico or India ruled by elite financial globalists needs to be the goals of a 4th political party in the United States of America.

The Existential Drift of U.S. Conservatives/Union-Leader Endorsement of Newt

Though Mitt Romney is a better candidate, the Union Leader could not endorse him perhaps because most of their subscribers aren't Mormons. Perhaps they were thinking of their income bottom line more so than of whom the best candidate would be in 2012.

There are few real conservatives these days-they are generally globalists in some form or other and inimical to U.S. national interests. Even if they are morally conservative, politics is preponderantly more about economics than morals (all things being equal and excluding the Ghengis Khans, Mengeles and so forth) which should be something more of a personal area that flows upward to the people collectively.

One may wonder if conservativism in the United States has evolved to mean economic existentialism and collapse of social realism as a political concern. With leaders that believe their are no consequence to group behavior economically, environmentally or politically the consequence is sound bite talk show quality candidates with no comprehension of the world today or America's role in it. Newt Gingrich is sort of a co-founder of the 90's economic infrastructure corruption that is paying off now. He did of course have a lot of support.

Obamacare is a Costly Trick for Corporatism

Obamacare requirements that all citizens purchase health insurance is a fundamental corruption of the role and relationship of government too the citizens. The U.S. Government may serve to provide free health services as a safety net for the people yet it cannot decree that the citizens should pay money for services to other citizens, groups of citizens such as businesses through law.

U.S. courts may of course find in civil suits between individuals on monetary issues as the case may be. The creation of health insurance exchanges that poor individuals are required to use to buy insurance from, or from any other source is simply a trespass by the federal government on the fundamental rights of the citizens to be free from bills of attainder and control in their empirical lives. It is more of a violation of privacy than any abortion theorist might ever advance in its support.

The notion has been advanced that expanding the insurance risk pool would lower health care costs for the middle class. That may be true, yet that is a financial context the government has zero right to engage in. If the middle class wants lower health care costs or emergency medical services for those that have used up their insurance benefits it should reasonably create a free public health service for the poor, veterans and those that have no other recourse for their medical condition. Removing the incidentalcosts of providing health coverage for the unisured would in itself lower the overall health care costs of the United States if all other economic factors were favorable.

If the middle class want to have a million dollars worth of health care insurance apeice and want to pay for it by conscripting the healthy, uninsured youth of the nation into a mandatory insurance risk pool creating thereby greater profits for the corporate insurers they would still have no assurance that the corporate profits would not just flow up to CEO's taking tens of millions of dollars of stock options. Neither would the youth having a significant chunk of their paychecks (if they are employed someday) for services they don't use be very happy.

As a matter of logic it makes little sense to remove capital from the poor and the middle class and make them pay corporations thereby eroding the potential for business development and savings, investments and so forth in the long run. When the corporate world began to eliminate employee health insurance it began the progression toward the day when all American citizens would instead be required to pay them for insurance by law instead. As the leadership of the Democratic Party has vacated its traditional concerns for health coverage universally for the poor and failed to make rigorous income standards for social security that would not pay those in retirement more than the average working American it has become fiscally irresponsible in general rather than exceptionally.

Obama Sues to Prevent States from Supporting Federal Law

The Obama administration has added Utah to the list of states it is suing to prevent state law reinforcement for federal law making illegal immigration a criminal offense. Utah is the latest in the states Attorney General Holder has filed suit upon to prevent the U.S. States from arresting and detaining persons wanted for federal criminal activity. It was such recalcitrance to let the several states be apprised of federal law breakers and to arrest and detain them for federal transfer that allowed an Oklahoma highway patrolman to make a traffic stop on a 9-11 hijacker and let him go because he wasn't placed by the N.S.A. on the federal watch list.

Federal law is fundamental created to provide laws the states individually are not capable of promulgating such as trans-state legal jurisdiction. Federal law is not intended to be a shield to defeat the ability of states to have a government in conformity to the will of the people of the several states. The people of the United States have supported federal immigration policy in the past that has required aliens to enter the country on a legal basis in accord with numbers and standards set by the Congress of the United States. The history of incompetent federal executive administration of the laws passed by the Congress is not brief, however it is not the right of the President to sue the states in order to prevent their reinforcement of federal law.

http://politicons.net/obama-sues-utah-to-halt-enforcement-of-tough-immigration-law/

Persons entering the United States unlawfully have committed a criminal offense that is of federal stature and applicable in all of the 50 states, territories and insular possessions. The individual states may reinforce federal law and support it with the arrest of federal criminals or not as the case may be. It is not however an promulgation of a different immigration policy to reinforce existing federal immigration policy by arresting persons found to be in violation of federal criminal statutes.

As a practical matter law enforcement officers have since the start of electronic and radio criminal data bases checked to learn the status of persons of interest that it contacts in the ordinary course of law enforcement. Persons hitch-hiking, standing on street corners, leaving federally controlled areas in a suspicious manner and so forth have been asked for I.D. and given a quick background check for warrants. Such checks that show that the individual contacted is not an American citizen or lawful resident or visitor enfilades the illegal immigration status of a federal criminal. Holding the fugitives for transfer to U.S. Immigration officials is then the reasonable, responsible course of action, as would be holding a federal fugitive from Wall Street corruption until eventually some federal official wanders over to take a look see.

Alaska Installs Ocean Acidity Measurement Buoys

Too much carbon dioxide in the world's atmosphere increases the acidity of the ocean via precipitation and an increase of carbonic acid running off from the land as the carbon reacts with minerals (rocks). Scientists at the University of Alaska Fairbanks installed an acid measuring buoy in Alaska waters this year and are requesting a budget for a few more measuring units for the coastal waters of the state.

http://www.aoos.org/first-ocean-acidification-buoys-deployed-in-alaskan-waters/

Many politicians are deniers of global warming and don't really expect a mass extinction to occur if there is to much carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. They don't regard it as a human need to swiftly end the fossil fuel era and move to more intelligent, better for the U.S. competitive international economy with economic-ergonomic advantage for American wage earners transportation infrastructure. One must remind oneself occasionally that the American dream for the establishment is sleep-walking somnulent lateraled mobility in four wheeled fossil fueled cars while the world goes to the new mass extinction era. Power is the ultimate truth to the auto-highway clan.

If electro-magnetic mass drivers could move Americans around at a couple thousand miles per hour former fossil fuel car drivers could still have the illusion of driving a car across America. It would be possible to fabricate virtual reality units with all the sensations of driving a car at 70 m.p.h. within the mass driving compartments. Even if the passenger/drivers arrived across the nation in two or three hours they could remain in the debarking facility for a few days until enough time had passed that they could keep the illusion of having driven a four wheeler.ent transportation choices. This is understandable.

On Free U.S. Public Health Care for the Poor, Veterans and Those With Medical Coverage Gone

Public health care through federal facilities for the poor, veterans and those gone broke would still let the privilaged afford to spend copious cash on costly high tech health care and insurance. It would relieve the sufferring and create a healthier American public.

Free, quality public medical care for the nation's poor, veterans and those that run out their insurance or medical coverage would still let the rich and middle class spend on free enterprise medical care so they can live two or three hundred years as they desire or whatever and yet those that are not wealthy could still have a healthier life and be readier to continue productivity without loosing their lot the first time anything substantial arises to insult their health.

Unfortunately the Congress just isn't practical these days. One can not imagine the founders of the nation unable to form a budget and rely upon automatic cuts imposed by some pre-existing condition. What a joke--no one has the practical guts to make things work well in congress anymore. They seem to be industrial and aesthetic existentialist following the flowers of foreign investment opportunities.

Actually except for Mitt Romney the Republicans just don't seem really to care about fixing the nation well since the rich are getting record profits anyway, and that they believe is the way it should be. Trouble is the Democrats are millionaires too and don't give a damn about securing the borders and tightening up the U.S. job market either.

On the Ethics of Foreign Intervention

Nations, social organizations and various sundry forms of boundaries and oaths of obligations are temporal social constructs rather inferred or induced from language/linguistic paradigms and representational complexes of objectivity. The evolving temporal presentation of political entities is seldom pure and with a complex river of social actualization emerges into a continuing present geophysical and social facticity.

Political actions of society are those affecting all of the public’s interest. In brief the political is a concatenation of the private. One’s private interests follow ethical rules of conduct, while one’s political actions forming abstract behavioral policies or future constructions for the public should cohere within Kant’s categorical imperative, that is itself a kind of abstraction of the golden rule.

Is it right to involve one’s self in polities of which one is not a member? While all things human concern all humanity to a certain extent, the human intellectual construction of language, ideas, effect social orders, policy and work must cohere within rational structures that may obviously be subject to destructive interference from within or without one’s borders.

In times past there have been several forms of political organizations and political philosophies that have formed a priori rules of engagement rather like those of war for the ethical pursuit of goals. Yet it is reasonable to venture to say that pragmatic hypothetical ethical political goals ought to follow along with a course to achieve some real, material purposes politically rather than simple serve as justification for ongoing means toward some lofty future end. The goal of individual adequacy in all of the fundamental human needs, ecopheric concerns and so forth should have implementable political method. To interfere with the political operations of foreign entities arbitrarily in pursuit of an extraterritorial end is to tend to throw a wrench into the rationality of the local political works.

In several respects the language ontologies of logic and linguistics may be comparable to the ontologies of political ideas that human beings form in a local political lexicon. If one speaks the language of that lexicon one might improve or harm the local political activities. Deception is however unlikely to advance the fundamental human goal of creating a better political organization.

Today the United States does have unusual foreign policies of engagement too numerous to list here. One might speculate about the corporatism requiring the expansion of international markets that is a kind of ecospheric imperialism destructively, yet wonder if Communist China’s move into market production is a kind of other side of the same coin that Wall Street’s capitalist logic has advanced as a rationale for running roughshod over democracy? That is one may discern that authoritarian power with an ostensible good purpose at heart is used as an ethical justification for the fullfillment of material production goals and consolidation of power without regard to numerous other alternative politicall formalizations.

Political totalization of geography and markets seems to flow from Wall Street as well as Communist China. Necessarily the Wal-martization of politics follows along too with global networks and oligarchy homogenizing everything from music to clothing and political topics. The challenge may be to retain local politics and nationality in an era when the forces of totalization are becoming universal.

As the rationality for free enterprise corresponds with the goals of individualistic democracy, respect for local political self-determination is a fundamental way that philosophically provident government by and for the people has advanced to let a tangled bank of invention and enterprise stimulate human production and understanding. While learning is universal and a common product of human experience, the need to keep capitalism and communism from repressing individual rights, expression, development and property acquisition requisite for individual independence means that politics needs to work to keep the empirical realm free from the domination of organization, individuals or sub-units of society that convert it to essentially serve their own proprietary interests. Some of the more pressing concerns for the public today are those of ecospheric conservation, biospheric recovery, universal health care, stabilization of resource use and development of highly intellectual social selection of resources to produce within renewable contextual prioritization.

Politics today is of a far more complex nature than in prior centuries.

Globalization of communication and trade means that a continuum of foreign interference exists in so much as business is also a formof politics with its own environmental and social displacement effects. When Wal-Mart recently received permission to expand into Indian cities of more than a million souls it also became a local political force and vice versa. Bentonville Arkansas and New Dehli will now be conjoined to a certain extent with local jobs and ecosphere in part determined by corporate and political actions reciprocally. The problem in globalization is in the eclipse of self-determination by political units such as nations as corporatism takes over.

Many organizations and even polities today have trans-national goals and alliances. This is the age of networks of power, and also of destructive interference by rival organizations intentionally and unintentionally for control. One of the greatest challenges is to prevent politics from becoming a 'tale told by an idiot full of sound and fury signifying nothing'.

The ability to human polities to self-govern intelligently was perennially a challenge as we know from the pessimism of Aristotle regarding democracy that he believed evolve into tyranny eventually. Human beings must work with recognition of all people to have meaningful and free individuality while simultaneously being cognizant of the ecospheric limitations to unintelligent and unreformed growth. Capitalism should be legally made to work for small scale and intermediate size business instead of global corporations, and trade internationally should be made for comparative advantage rather than absolute advantage. To make nations applied economic areas with sustainable qualitative development is a challenge following the ancient regime of belief in the benefits of globalism and even absolute forms of government. Humanity has a very challenging future ahead, especially with all of the U.S. Presidential candidates except Mitt Romney seeming better fit for appearances on talk shows than presiding in the White House.
