No Better Idea (a poem)

The animals war in the heat and mud
was over food, cilia moving power
labels on soup cans rotting away
motivations to be and become
victors while rain fell
dreary drizzles with grey clouds
dominating pain’s sharp breaths
the poet classified as allied agony’s
friends with friends first
before foes could live without gun shots
cluster-bombs scattering body parts
social classes structured
stratified demolition of reason
for the heat and mud
with buildings crumbling
like the opportunity of day
when night falls.
