John von Neumann’s algebra and architecture indicate thought more compatible for chess than cosmology or quantum mechanics. I believe von Neumann would have won a match between them if he’d put his mind to learning the game with the effort he put to walking his dog.
Einstein said; “Chess holds its master in its own bonds, shackling the mind and brain so that the inner freedom of the very strongest must suffer.”
