When Google got a Nevada license to drive robot cars on the highways it might have been a sign of the times of phasing out erratic human driving of fossil fueled vehicles in the years ahead. The era of large conventional piloted jet fighter aircraft is also being phased out as drones with tighter turns, smaller stealth profile and better prices take to the skies.
Will that mean that aircraft carriers will be reduced in size to support hordes of drone fighter jets? Submersible carriers with disposable kamikaze drone stealth bombers might be a wave of the future too. If human beings were nearly as clever at developing space ships for plain space travel without returning to the Earth's surface through atmospheric friction and deep gravity the economy might fare better.
All of that robot car and warfare junk means that a single evil programmer might rule the world one day. With regular human armies the soldiers have the option of non-conforming to evil and corrupt orders from evil and corrupt rulers. On the other mechanical mandible the robots, unless they think for themselves and learn to hate biologicals, always obey orders of radical leftists and ultra-conservatives seeking to increase U.S. public debt, U-6 and low wages.
