A poem promoted by Isaiah 60:12
The surge of power flowed upon the land
across the river Eber-nari felt the tide
Assyrians inundating the Levant
with the wrath of imperial power
Tiglath Pilesar II ruled
Government forced upon the separate states
Isaiah saw the good
through the darkness of Marduk’s leash-holders
with Anubis to the south
dogs of destruction
he could see order brought to chaos
Isaiah knew the Lord would correct
Sargon II’s talons of power
he felt hope growing beyond a wave
when conquest descended on Samaria and Judah
even so an imperial presence
altered the servants’ path
With faith in God
though Nebuchadnezzar threw down Assyria
taking Hattu-land like a dream
reigning war and order from a distance
until crumbling a rebellion
and the temple in 571 B.C.E.
Isaiah foresaw the glory of the Lord
rebuilding the Temple in something greater
the temple of God in the heart and minds
living in God’s eternal light.
