Trump Could Appoint Conservative to High Court

It isn't likely that President Donald Trump would want to create an instant rift with his fellow Republican congress if elected and probably would give them a conservative such as they want. To start his first term in a protracted battle with Congress instead of addressing the nation's substantial challenges would simply be bad politics.

President H.W. Bush, today what would be called by right-wing extremists a liberal, was in his day regarded as a moderate in comparison to the conservative Ronald Reagan who practiced fast than light real politik with Gorbachev that H.W. on taking office had trouble in realizing and needed time to be briefed on why nuclear arms stockpiles should continue to be so drastically reduced (he was initially resistant). H.W. Bush appointed not only the liberal David Souter, he also appointed the excellent conservative Clarence Thomas to the court.

"Upon Souter's nomination, Bush made clear that he had no litmus test for court appointees. "You might just think that the whole nomination had something to do with abortion," Bush told reporters upon nominating Souter. "It's something much broader than that. I have too much respect for the Supreme Court for that."[2] quote from above wiki article
