In the future anti-personnel combat drones may be stealthy and packed with more than explosives; they may be directed by artificial intelligence. Such spherical, invisible, baseball sized flying objects would be dropped from a carrier bomb or cruise missile drone into a combat region to search and destroy individual soldiers or marines. A single package of 500 to 1000 drones could take out a battalion. This is a serious defense issue since it changes the nature of war. Science fiction writers take note.
