I was relaxing after working on a shed project in the desert Saturday night watching the emergence of stars when a vehicle approached in the twilight along a road a short distance away and parked near a neighbor’s place. After several minutes it moved on, took a right turn and drove to another neighbor’s building and stopped.
I took a photo of the truck and the Samsung camera screen lit up. A bullet whizzed past me from the truck in the darkness. It then sped off.
Communicating with a law enforcement official who had arrested the people in the truck for D.U.I. I learned that the perps said they didn’t see me and were hunting rabbits. Apparently the first shot is free in some instances; for people often are mistaken for rabbits in the dark.
